On my ALDI Unit, to Get the wince explorer bar, I edited the SHELL.INI to

\Windows\explorer.exe

Which picks up the explorer executable.

So If i select the navigator icon on the normal startup screen, it starts the wince explorer bar. If i select it again it brings up file explorer.

I can run navigate7 or tomtom from a flash card , or other apps from the run selection on the task bar. Yiu need to setthe taskbar to auto hide to get back some screen real-estate.

Oddball,

That's a handy little find, thanks for sharing that mate, should come in handy!!

I still cant work out this Baud Rate thing, with the Tevion units, I can set the
Baud rate to pretty much anything I want, and can't see any difference.

So far i've successfully run Miomap 3.3, Kogan Smart2Go, IGo 2006 plus, TomTom 6,
and Finean POLNAV on the unit...and all seem to select a different baud
rate automatically but run perfectly. (Still yet to try Destinator & Garmin)

Strange stuff indeed.

oh well....I can't complain...this unit craps all over my old Navman P.O.S.!!!

You can't go past TomTom or Miomaps is pretty good. For TomTom read one of my previous posts to get the right version with the latest map.

Good Luck,

Hi Starby,

Excellent question!!! (This one had me stumped for quite a while too!!)

OK, the trick to get Kogan FOI Smart2Go working, is you got to take the "Cities" folder that came with the package and you place them
**Inside** the "MobileNavigator" folder where the MobileNavigator.exe is.

Just cut and paste the whole folder into the main directory, it should then fire up first go.

I'm not sure if you were getting the same error message as me, (No metro area is installed, you must install at least one metro area)
but that Should get you going!! LOL!

If this doesnt work let me know, you may have a corrupt download.

Hi Szir,

The Kogan FOI Smart2Go software can be freely downloaded from Navsoon - WinCE :: View topic - Smart2Go forums. Take a look at the second post.

It includes Navteq November 2006 maps, which are getting a bit long in the tooth now, and for some reason if you load up
newer navteq maps it refuses to read them...seems Smart2Go has software provider specific maps.

My friend bought one of these, gave it to me to "soup up".
Smart2go looks alright, but I am not sure about it navigation. On MioMap the way to my friends house shows as 5.6Klms, which TomTom agrees with.
Smart2go want to take me another way at 9.1klms..no matter what I did it insists that this is the way to to go.
So I left MioMap on it (which is better anyway) and gave it to him.

One thing with the Route 66, how the *&!$# do you exit it?. Is a obsolete point now but it just bugged me that I could not see how to exit.

Hi Bit_Pit,

ummm...from memory, (Cause I deleted that off on the first day...what a piece of crap!! LOL!) I think you had to tap on the map screen,
which bought up the settings, scroll down once and the exit button was there...I think!!

Just as a matter of interest, which version of Mio did you stick on it???

And were there any performance issues??? The reason i ask, is that I notice my unit seems to be slowing down...not sure, maybe i've been messing with it too much!! LOL!

Hi Guys,
One thing to look out for if the unit is slowing down is make sure only the POI's that you use are ticked in the 'Enable/Disable POI' section. I live in Victoria and don't need to know where the public toilets are in Brisbane! When I loaded that TomTom on by default everything was ticked which made it run very slowly. Runs perfect now though.

Cheers,

Simon.

Hey Guys,
I have been able to run Tomtom 6 from an SD card and it works pefectly.

I thought I would try Miomaps but the version I have is looking for a specific GAPI - how did you get around that?

Thanks in advance

Hi Gezza,

Try this version of Mio 3.3, RapidShare: 1-Click Webhosting

This is the version of Mio I had working the best on my Tevion unit.

Regards
Brian Bradnell

Oops sorry...just tested the link...looks like it's been removed from Rapid Share...Bugger!!

Might have to search for "mammamia" through your favourite search provider.

Cheers
Brian
