Tom Tom 7 How to

This download has been tested on a Navsoon 3667 and a Tevion P310 GPS units.

The Tevion was set up to run from the SD card and therefore both units ran TomTom 7 from a SD card.

Both units run WinCE 5.0.

Please note that occasionally a memory error comes up but re-running the program usually solves this. If not, reinstall.

The How to is based on the Australia map being present but other maps can be substituted.

The map sub directory can reside in either the root directory of the SD card or in a My Documents sub directory in the root of the SD card.

The file Note_prj.dll under the TomTom sub directory will find the map in either or both the root or My Documents sub directory.

The root of the SD card contains

Sub directories:
My Documents
TomTom

Files:
Shell.ini (required for the Navsoon)
ttnavigator.bif (generated when TomTom is first run)

The How to can be downloaded from:

RapidShare: Easy Filehosting

or

http://netload.in/datei8bc36b3e4c4f.../TomTom.rar.htm

Look at this site for How to’s on different GPS programs and how different GPS units operate:

Navsoon - WinCE :: View Forum - How To's

Also look at this site for a range of GPS issues

Navsoon - WinCE :: Index

Enjoy!

Is your .exe the patched one?

Having that .dll file seems to have done the trick for me. Thanks.

Colin 2905,

Just a quick question for you, when you pulled your Tevion apart to fix the speaker,
did you have a look at the screen setup at all??

I notice that I have broken a piece af glass directly under the touch screen plastic when i dropped mine the other day.

I was gonna open her up and see if i can replace that glass or if my Tevion is now stuffed!! LOL

But I would like some advanced intel on the setup of the screen,
eg: if I pull it apart will I be able to just replace this thin sheet of glass??
Could I just remove this piece of glass?? How many sheets of glass are in there???

All that kinda jazz!! LOL

Hi Brian,
I have a friend interested in one of the new Tevion units advertised in the new Aldi catalogue. Do you this they could be "upgraded" like the ones we have? Do they have a SD card slot etc?

Any info would be great.

Simon.

Hi Simon,

Umm...not too sure if it has a SD slot, Aldi are not very forthcoming with their
information, and as usual a Tevion website does not exist.

Just looking at the pic on the website, the unit looks very similar to the Binatone Carrera 4.3" Units sold by Big W.

I know The Binatones have an SD slot and are WinCE5 units, so quite possibly i'd say yes, but without actually seeing one...i'm just guessing!! LOL!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Colin,

thanks man...no worries, Guess i'll just have to pull it apart and see for myself!! LOL!

Hi guys,

So did anyone end up buying one of the new Tevion Widescreen units at Aldi today??

Just be interested in some feedback on the unit really...

eg. Memory size and Operating system installed?? Hackability?? Does it have an SD slot??

Wasn't allowed to purchase another GPS, LOL...was threatened with divorce and such!! LOL

yes it does have an sd slot. pre loaded with route 66 2008q3 maps. From the standard menu it plays mp4 which is good. It uses activesync to conect to the computer so I gather it has windows based software. comed with windscreen mount and 12v to usb adaptor. Not sure of hackability bbut it looks like it might be easy. For the price its a bargin.

Thing,

Hi and thanks for your reply and information!! =)

Which model is it...should say on the back?!?!

If you have a look at the back of your unit you may find a small grey sticker
which would say for example "Windows CE Core 5.0" and a serial No.

That should let us know which OS it is, but sounds like CE5.0.

How much RAM on board does it report?? I know the last ones ad said 512Mb, Box said 256Mb but unit reported several other amounts!! LOL!

And does it have a website at all for contacting Tevion??

Regards

I think all the aldi Medion GPS's came with one, so if you're a hiker or a cyclist you're stuck with having to charge it via a USB slot, which takes a long time, and requires a computer. The battery life is very very bad.

so anyone here worked out how to put something else on it yet? It would be ok if it just stayed in the car.
