What are your feed in rates?
Hi all
I have a 5kw solar system and 6kw of panels and I would like to know when is the best time to run everything at home eg washing machine, dishwasher, pool pump and so on? During the daylight so we arnt paying the power company or at night when it is off peak and then get the return from power company during the day?
Look Here -> |
What are your feed in rates?
Not much at all bout 9c
If you are on a traditional peak/off peak billing system use all your power where possible during the day while you are producing it, but also don't use more than your panels are producing..

reeco81 (28-07-14)
+1 for this.
You're not gaining a lot of benefit with a low feed in rate, so you are better of utilising as much generated power as possible during the day.
This will cost you a lot less than using power at night/off peak, but as irwazza mentioned, don't exceed what your panels are producing.
As above, during the day.
Thanks guys I have been running during the day so I shall leave as it is , I've just heard others doing it differently but they must have a higher feed in rate
Correct, if your 'feed in rate > peak rate and off peak rate' your better off selling that power to the power company then purchasing power during off peak at a much lower rate

There are a number of different feed in tarrifs and they also vary depending on what state you are in. Though are you on a gross or net feedin tariff ?
As you mentioned you are on a low feed in , during the day would be logical as you would be paying more than 9 cents a kwH in off peak.
I'm not too sure on the gross or net how would I find out?
What state are you in reeco81 ? And do you know exactly what the tarriff is you are being paid ?
This link outlines the difference between gross and net feed in tarrifs.
I'm im WA admin and I wasn't aware of the net and gross tariff but maybe because we don't have it here, thanks for the info I shall have a read
