Default Question about Providers Software

Are you able to put a service providers software on an unbranded phone. For example, can you put 3's software on an unbranded N95?

Cool, is it possible to give me an idea how. I've tried googling but I'm obviously not putting in the right terms.

cheers

you need to change the product code on the phone with NSS software to a generic product code (this is the code that defines your phone to be a branded item) and then find a generic firmware for that product code and flash it with that.
Or the opposite in your case.
I have done this with my optarse e65.

you could brick it if your not carefull when using NSS then using the Nokia Software update software.

That said, why would you want to "brand" I mean SPAM your N95 with the Three firmware?

Other than getting the Three version of Skype for the n95, its basically not worth branding your unbranded n95.

Hey that is my view, so that said, if you do really need the Three based firmware then again be carefull when changing the product code.

Here is a good link with usefull advice when changing the product code for all Nokia handsets.

As for Three N95 product code, best off reading the n95 general dicussion thread over at Whirlpool

The main reason is to be able to access the relevant functions like checking my usage etc
