    Hey guys,

I'm getting to the recovery screen but when i click on "apply update from from SD" I get E:failed to mount /sdcard no such file or directory"

The sd card works fine when the phone is on and can be viewed from the PC without trouble. And, yep, it's FAT32.

It's also a Huawei Sonic from Dick Smith.

    Any clues?

    Default catch 22?

    call me cautious, but...

if i install from update.zip then brick the phone i can still re-install the official rom from the site koolio_au suggests right? this would i assume give me the base o/s without the update from my re-seller.

the catch 22 is that I can't image the phone as it is now until after rooting it and I can't root it without risking bricking it. this is really dumb.

I was worried about the original source of update.zip and googling the apparent author, ChainsDD, it looks legitimate.

    regards,
    kale

Is there a specific update.zip for European phones ? or could you perhaps make one ?

The error message I get is:

    "Failed to verify whole-file signature.
    Signature verification failed.
    Installation aborted."

I have tried several downloads, but it always errors and aborts the install.

    Appreciate the hard work.

    1) I can't boot in recovery mode. Although it seems easy I can't do it. I press the "volume up" and "power" but it just boots normally...
    2) Should I put update.zip in the SD card or unzip it on my laptop and put the unzipped folder in SD?

    Hi to all!

I am Spanish, and I will try to explain How to install ##ZaD!!CyAn v1.1 (descarga) (CyanogenMod 7.2) in Huawei u8650.

First I Have installed Zad Cyan 1.1 in my Huawei and is very potent and very good.

Sorry for my english, is very bad.

First install Recovery clockmod 1ª release

    Original topic:

1: You have to install one of this driver, if one don't work, try the other:

2: Download the recovery: , extract it.
3: If you have installed the driver, Remove the battery from the device for 10 seconds, and now push on button + volum down together for 10 seconds (fastboot mode)
4: If the screen has blocked, insert the usb on the PC, and look if the computer recognizes the mobile, if it does continue, otherwise return to step 1.
5: In the folder where you extract the recovery, run instalador.bat, and wait for the instalation.
6: If everything works, turn on the phone in recovery mode (on + volumeup 10 seconds)

    Posted Image

    2: Install ##ZaD!!CyAn v1.1 (descarga) rom:

    Original topic:

1: We put the downloaded zip file on the memory card.
2: We went into recovery mode with press volume up + off (on) button for about 10 seconds.
3: Chose factory data wipe, then wipe cache, and devil wipe cache in advanced.
4: in the main menu choose install custom zip, and look for the previously downloaded zip.
5: Wait for the instalation finish.
6: Restar for use CyanogenMod 7.2

    Rom:

If you have problem with GPS:

Install this: , do the step number 4 again, and select the fixgps.zip.

The rom will be in Spanish, but you can select English or one other.

This is all, if you have problem, say it.

stolen from anotherforum but thats what i used

i love my android so much now i,m off to woolies to get another one this week so when i break this one i,m good to go

This thing is driving me crazy. Why I can't boot in recovery mode? Do I just have to press volume up + power on for 10 sec? I do just that but it boots normally!!!!

Hold both keys until it displays the recovery mode menu.

I finally found what was wrong. You have to turn off through "Settings" and "Applications" menus the "Fast boot" option. After that you can boot in recovery mode just fine.

But now I have another problem: when i boot in recovery mode and choose the "update.zip", i get the following message:

    failed to verify whole-file signature
    signature verification failed
    installation aborted

    Any ideas?

Same problem than Ikaros here. I bought a Sonic in France.
Don't know if it only works for Australian devices....

Should we restore factory settings prior to the root?

What I posted in the original post is applicable to an Australian purchased unit. I would say it is not going to work on units purchased elsewhere.....try it at your own risk.

If it doesnt work I would suggest looking for another method. No amount of doing anything is going to change it not working on some.

You guys are using CWM and getting this error, you need to go to mounts and storage and check that your /sdcard is mounted. If not then you just click mount /sdcard

If you get the error "E:signature verfication failed Installation aborted." it could be a few things. A bad zip file (redownload a new one). Your SD card is coming unmounted or you are missing components that need mounting (see mounts and storage and mount everything). Or you have a bad version of clockwork Recovery running there (with a bad SDcard script), and you need to upgrade CWM

BTW I do not have a Sonic, but this is from experience of flashing so many roms and killing my moto phone (never fully bricked it but have been close a couple of times!). There shouldn't be that much variation in phones, usually the euro phones are identical to our Optus based ones.

LOL "devil wipe cache". Never knew the dalvik was so evil!
Coding in C is like sending a 3 year old to do groceries. You gotta tell them exactly what you want or you'll end up with a cupboard full of pop tarts and pancake mix.

Ok! I managed to root the phone by downloading the official rom and flashing it first.

    Explained here:

Nice!!! Document to go was useless and now it's gone = Faster Sonic
But now i'm kinda lost lol. Should I use a custom rom?
Cause some say it's not always stable...

Or is it possible to just overclock and get mekamarket without using CM7?

    Yeah I'm a noob i know...
