    Default google password help

just received a message (supposedly from the google accounts team) on my phone stating that my google password has been changed and I need to reset it, because someone might be trying to hijack my account.
I just tried and I can get in with the password I've had all along.

    What's the go here ?
    Is this a hoax ?
If my password has changed, why can I still get in with my old one ?

The message gives me a link to reset the password but I'm not sure wether to trust it.

    What should I do ???

Don't know about your phone but I think my computer has been attacked , especially Google Chrome.

Absolutely do not trust the link in the message. Log on from a clean computer, manually entering the URL. Change your password just in case.

Do nothing, if your old password works its a scam. Never enter any site through email links.

Definitely do NOT use the given link. It is no doubt a fishing expedition to obtain your password.

Your password has probably not been changed at all. It is unlikely the message came from Google. However you should probably change it just in case. Don't follow the link that was given to you. Just navigate your own way to Google's login page as you usually do and change it there.

    Thanks guys.
Yeah just what I thought too.
I didn't trust it, but it looks quite official for a scam email.
Here's what it looks like from my account on the computer.
I've painted out my email of course.

    Yeah I'm gonna ignore it.
I actually don't use gmail for my emails, just as a client for my android.
I sent a "report phishing" to google then deleted it.
I've always known what to do to avoid attacks but this is the first one I've received on my phone. Interestingly, I just did the upgrade to Icecream sandwich yesterday...hmmm.

    Dont delete.
Others get the same and are not sure what to do. Some even open the links and the sender gets your info. Same for at home.
Bonafide accounts NEVER ask you to do this, Banks etc etc.
