    Default Lose your mobile?

I came across this whilst reading the online papers.

On the surface, me not knowing any better, this seems a good thing to do??

    Just to clarify one thing

If you have Find My Iphone on, a reset, DFU reset will not turn it off.

The best thing to do, is also have a passcode as well.

Information i thought everyone would know.
How it works in reality is somewhat different though.

I've had all that stuff on before to no avail. I've also taken the my IMEI number to the cops, they werent really interested. Nor was my provider.
There are plenty of Blogs showing how some kid track his iPhone down to an apartment across town, then fronted the guy at his front door. All with detailed screen grabs and maps showing how he did it.
Whether its true or not is another thing.

Might be good practice for the younger generation of girls that seem to lose a smart phone every time they go to a nightclub.

with the implementation of iOS 7 and the activation process requiring the phone to go back and check to see if it can activate, makes you wonder why Windows and Android haven't followed suit.

Would stop theft of any smart phone/tablet/device ever.

and would also be a way to stop morons selling stolen stuff

I'm not sure it would ever stop theft, they just steal them anyway, near all thefts of a mobile phone/tablet are opportunity based.
If it gets bricked later, they just toss them away, use them for a camera and music device or sell them on Gumtree using a pre paid sim.

One big problem, is the crook still gets some money for them, ie he puts it in Gumtree and the buyer believes a simple restore will put it right.

The seller might also say he just wiped the phone so no information on it, and the person is salivating as they are getting a 5s for $300 and they want it before the seller realizes he could of got $600 for it.

The seller then rings the buyer to inform them they left their account on it anf thinks , that's weird they ain't answering there phone anymore.

Did The Age steal that article from SMH or are they affiliated?
