![]() | connect using the 'A' side on the connector as in Oz we use the 568A std. and just follow the colors. You need to use a Krone tool to terminate the cable and the cable needs to be a solid core cable and not stranded. Leroy |

![]() | If you dont want to do your cable to ACMA stds that's fine but those terminations are insulation displacement and you're not going to get the best termination with straded as the strands move when teminating then a bad connection affects your data rates. Leroy |

It's fine if you're doing it in your own house but if you were to do it in say a commercial environment and someone else was to come along and reterminate the other end of the cable then you would have issues. | |

![]() | Just take notice of the A wiring. Too easy. In your pic all are striped/traced. They are not in practice. Follow the A wiring.

| Junior Member | Leroy is right, stranded conductors must be terminated on "stranded RJ45 plugs". Stranded cat 5 cable is used for patch cords and introduces losses in the data link, RJ45 plugs come in solid or stranded type so be careful when buying. In the matter of 568A or B, such links are to be labelled at both ends as to what standard is used. There is no real difference between the two, only the green wh and orange wh are in reversed positions. In older systems a reverse patch cord (A termination on one end and B termination on the other) was used if connecting a lan card to a hub. Take care when terminating sockets (TO's) and keep the strands as short as possible and keep the untwists to within 13 mm of the terminations SWK |
