Anyone with exetel or same modem maybe my configuration is not right some how.. Do i need a adsl2 filter or will a normal one be ok? |

| Premium Member | Do you have your torrent port forwards setup correctly? Thats the most important thing if you want to get any sort of decent speed from bittorrent.

| Member | Will look into the port forwarding, tough why is my http download speed so slow? Adsl1 i would get around 80kbps now im getting under 50kbps Also with bittorrent if there is a green icon suggesting good connection do i still need to forward the ports or is the connection ok? Ok i just checked my torrent client and tested the port and it said it was ok and i didnt forward the port in the modem settings. Now another thing yesterday my speeds were getting upto 250kbps but i experienced alot of dropouts, went into my modem settings and reconfigured the modem.. More stable connection but wont reach over 25kbps for torrents. |

| Junior Member | u need an adsl2 filter...check if you speeds are consistent...do portforwarding on your router especially for torrents.... try a speed test from one of the local sites rather than international...that will give a better idea of what the exact speeds are. |

![]() | Well how old is the house ? is it 5 years old or 50 ? This could cause noise in the line and drop your speed. You could try different wall plugs in your house to see if there is any speed difference. Then this would show there could be a extra 10m on the wall plug your currently using then is needed or its wired badly and slowing down your speeds. |

That does sound quite slow, what area are you in? There are some troubles with telstra exchanges around nsw due to storms that have been waterlogging cables/trenches etc. I have adsl1 8mbps with exetel and I can constantly download at 700-750kb/s. What speed are you syncing at? -Suff

![]() | Yes, look in your modem setup, post back what the line sync and attenuation are. From that we can compare on this chart ![]() and see what you should be getting. Also. do you have Foxtel? An alarm? Fax machine? Could be one of these on the lline unfiltered. Let us know. |

![]() | Well somethings not right there, your attenuation says your more like 2.5KM from the exchange. That said, according to the graph, you still (at 2.5Km) should be getting around 12Mps. You might need to get a good comms company in to check the house wiring, and while their at it get a C10 central splitter installed. Do you have any noise on the phone? Did you check for un-filtered devices (fax, Foxtel, alarms etc)? |
