| Junior Member | Greetings to all and sundry (espacially the sundries!), I currently have half a dozen in-line ADSL filters installed on lines about my house. I want to install a central filter and route the ADSL side directly to my modem/router, and leave the rest of the circuit 'as is' (after removing the in-line filters. My question is: What is the internal (circuitry) difference between an in-line filter and a central filter? The thought crossed my mind that rather than buy another central filter to be installed (protected and indoors), I could use one of the existing in-line filters for the exact same purpose. Anyone know why I cannot or should not do this? Cheers, Steve |

I've installed plenty of these also and pre wire houses for them everytime now. Work fine, are approved by the Telcos.... couldn't be easier. You can look the specs up on thier site, they also make those little match box filters too. | |

It's a "black box" - literally - potted-in components of which I have no idea what they are, although suspect it to be a simple LC network. Has one pair in and one pair out. Pair in connects to the incoming line, pair out go off to the jackpoints in the house for telephones and the like, and the ADSL jackpoint goes straight across the incoming pair (unfiltered).
