Any one know where I can get an idiot's guide to dyndns and port forwarding?

For port Forwarding, try PortForward.com - Free Help Setting up Your Router or Firewall

find your router and application there, good place to start.

For Dynamic DNS services, best to try DynDNS: DNS Hosting, Email Delivery and Other Services
