Question Choose 4 Satellites for Toroidal dish...

Next week I'm going to install my Toroidal dish on the roof. Now need to choose 4 satellites as I have 4 LNB's.

Which four are the most common Satallites to point to (for a newbie)???

Initially I will want to use free to air and later I probably want to sign up for pay tv.

I was thinking of:
- Intelsat8
- D1
- C1
- D2.

Am I missing one that I don't want to mis?

Thanks

If you're not going to worry about ptv then I'd not worry about C1 and point one at AS4 for feeds. But I'd be buying a few more LNB holders

Gisbo,
I would suggest purchasing a can of Hammertone charcoal/grey finish, with this you spray the rear of the twin parabols and its brackets.

The reflecting-'working' surfaces can be spray painted with matt black.

You do this to preserve the installation for the long haul.

The nuts and bolts that attach the parabols are subject to rusting. I grabbed 8 stainless steel replacements.

An installation down the road I did has i701 (French), IS2 (Arirang), IS8 (SelecTV/Eri), D1, C1, D2. NSW East Coast.

App is not correct. The positions it states on the bar are way off.

After a lot of fluffing around with a very expensive sat finder (piece of crap really) we managed to get IS8, C1, D1 D2 all going at once. Ill post some pics up later as it is an epic install.

G'Day Cobber,
If you look at this thread where I went through the whole Toroidal setup with ' Gizbo ', you will see that all known relative issues have been addressed.

Dish setup in Octagon SF918 menu - LNB High / Low?

There is an error in the " Satlex " program, admitted to by the author, for the Southern Hemisphere, but he has not got time to fix it.
If you read that thread you will see how I was able to overcome this and get the correct figures for the Southern hemisphere.
There was a lot of work went into this and it is a shame that you did not see it at the time.
If you have any further questions regarding this, I will be only too glad to help.
Kindest Regards, " The Druid ".

This was taken during setup to explain relative positions of LNBs.

OMFG - my brother in law is going to kill me

He spent 6 hours yesterday setting mine up for me again. The confusion was caused by the above app (everything is reversed) and the fact that the finder he was using was not giving him satellite names yesterday.

From right to left Intel 8, C1, D1 - D2 is marked on the bar. i just need another lnb.

Ill keep the info handy for another time, many thanks anyway mate.

What is the lnb for to the right of measat in your pic ?

regards

Using a Topfield 3000CIpro, once the dish is put together and pole mounted, it takes no more than 20 mins to align.

My new T90 (from Ebay AUS), is an updated design to that shown in pics above, take a close look at the pic.
Satellite Dish T90 Toroidal ( Multi Satellites) - eBay Dishes, Satellite, Cable TV, Set Top Boxes, Satellite, Electronics. (end time 10-Dec-08 23:40:42 AEDST)

I always ZERO point the central LNB to IS8 and adjust for max quality - say SelecTV, then and a second for Arirang on IS2, maximise quality for that, then seek D2 maximise same, then back to i701 via a Universal LNB. Add D1 and C1 for Al Jazeera International, etc. For D2 through i701.

If one has i701, I'd doubt you'd get Measat, mind you I've not tried, certainly AS4 is out of the question, less you drop off the IS2 and 8, D1 etc.

For viewing more than 4 satellites in relation to 'switches'; I suggest an EMP-Centauri P.168, that allows you to use a decoders DiSEqC 1.2 motor commands.

See TRADEME NZ.

Noooo, they are a work of fine art, almost as nice as a 4.5m mesh dish.
