| Junior Member | Hi Guys and Gals, I will be moving to New Caledonia in a few months and would like to know what is required (if it is at all possible) to enable me to watch Australian satellite TV programs there (in particular things like Fox Sports, Discovery Channel etc). If you could give me any tips on what is required, size of dish, subscription etc that would be great. Thanks, Brendan |

![]() | Try and visit LyngSat - Lyngemark Satellite and you'll see the Optus D2 signal beaming to Australia and nearest islands as you just click 'Beam' icons and find out where the beaming signals should be.

| Senior Member | Optus D2 ![]() This is the beam Chanceforlurve is talking about HippoMatic, but what relevance it has to your situation, I’m really not sure ![]() Optus C1 (this carries those channels you mentioned) ![]() Even though it shows the footprint does not extend to New Cal, that doesn't mean it can not be achieved by using a very big dish. Although i am no expert here.... And it would be worth finding out if someone else has managed to do it. Please not there is also local Sat TV channels.... most of them in French though Good Question though mate.... would be interesting to know. I know the ex-pats were getting Optus C1 in PNG on a 1.8M solid Ku dish, and it shows not footprint there on the maps, so you never know your luck ![]() |

| Premium Member | This is right up my street as I am next door in Vanuatu. Get a Foxtel/Austar sub or a whitey and a Strong. Get a Jonsa type, 6 petal 1.8 meter solid dish and an STGold 11300 prime focus lnb. That will work. KK. Last edited by Kavakid : 02-10-08 at 01:22 PM. |

| Senior Member | Great work Kavakid. I am really amazed it works so far out side the "so called" foot print map. That really does open up a lot of remote locations ![]() P.S. i never knew Optus C1 had a Ku beam pointed at Hawaii either?? Optus C1 at 156.0°E - LyngSat Maps |

| Junior Member | Hi again guys, The place I am staying in at New Caledonia apparently gets satellite tv, but the only english language channels are ABC WA, SBS and TCM. I'm guessing that the fact they get these channels they must have a decent size dish and be receiving one of the Optus satellites? If this is correct, then what would I need to get some more channels, like the Fox Sports, Discovery etc? Given there is a set top box connection in the wall, connecting to the existing dish shouldn't be a problem. If I got say a Dreambox and a subscription to Foxtel, Selectv etc, would I be able to get usual Foxtel type channels or is there something else I would need to do? Thanks for any help, Brendan |

| Premium Member | i am not sure about reception, but I would be scanning to see if you can pick anything up before investing any hard earned cash on subscriptions. You should be able to tune any of those channels, but not decrypt them without the card. If you can get this far, then sign up. |
