If it's not activated by Foxtel as part of a current subscription, it's useless.

BTW, the card remains the property of Foxtel, so your friend can't legally sell it and will be responsible for it if Foxtel request it's return.... that's assuming your friend obtained the card legally from a Foxtel subscription.

Default Card Question

I picked up a Topfield TF3200IR box at a swop meet. It had a Optus card in the slot. The card is the current colours according to info I found.
Is it any good? Does it need a monthly subscription? Can it be activated.
I am a beginner at this.

Is it the white and blue card? It might already be activated! Give it a go and have the box on an Aurora channel.

Further to that, if it is an activated Aurora card, you may have to leave it on an Aurora channel for quite a while, so the card receives an update of new keys.

Card is a Blue one. Which channel is a Aurora one? I have a working Mediastar 1100S box compliments of Leroy.
Did a blind scan of Optus C1 and there are lots of channels.
Card is now in a channel called "Aurora" comes up as scrambled, will leave in for a while to see what happens.

The 'Aurora' channel is not part of the Optus Aurora network it is a channel Foxtel carry as part of their package and is NDS encrypted.
You need to find the optus C1 tuning channel, leave your card in the receiver on that channel.
If you call Optus on 1300 301 680 their is an auto update service, all you have to do is punch your card number into the phone and it will send an update to the card within 5 mins.

That's an Austar channels. You can sort channesl by freq or service provider. Hit ok for the cannel list and the hit info. On the lower RHS you can see what colored button to press to sort. Aurora is on 12407V and 12527V from memory or if sorting my service provider it is OPT (short for Optus).

Aurora is the service.
When you loaded C1, in the transponder list you should have ABC SBS IMPARJA 7CENTRAL GWN etc...look for a transponder that displays it/them as 12407/30000 2/3 v

Leave the card in, go away for a time ( sometimes overnight, sometimes 5 mins) and you should see piccies on the ABC and SBS channels if it is activated, then try the commercial stations listed above

If you call the number I posted above it will update the card within 5 mins, I did this two days ago for a friend and he had not used his card in 6 months. It worked almost instantly with no waiting.

that freq is not correct. If that's what was found in a blind scan then your lnb settings prob aren't correct.

I think you have your lnb value set incorrectly...you should be displaying the transponder as 12527.

Change to the right lnb setting after your picture arrives....personally, I'd put it on an ABC or SBS channel, incase IMP etc not authorised on the card.

Rang that number, gave the serial no on the card, automated voice said it would be activated within 3 minutes, dam no activation!
Checked the Lnb freq in the setup menu which says 11300. What should it be?
Now on Abc WA as I am in Perth.

11300 is fine if your lnb is that freq. It's prob 10700 and it usually is written on the LNB.

Ok...doesn't matter what you do if you are using the foxtel decoder for the wife, as the lnb will be preset.

When you plug your one in, look at the lnb or antenna set up menu, and it will probably show 11300 or different. Change it to 10700 and try a rescan...I think that will put you right. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong...

Also, once you have the correct LNB setting, receiver tuned to an Aurora channel and the card in the slot, then ring the number to re-activate it.

If the card isn't in the decoder, LNB set correctly and not tuned to an Aurora channel, the card won't receive the update.
