Default Basic Troubleshooting and Optus C1 FTA??

    Hello

I have both a STB and DVBS card. I also believe my dish is pointed at C1. (previous foxtel install)

Whether using STB or DVBS, I cant seem to get anything on C1. I believe the C1 FTA channels and Al Jazeera and NIT, but I was hoping to use them as a test to make sure my kit was working before I went fiddling and moved my dish to D2.

Both bits of kit report a 70-80% (ish) signal, but Im not getting anything on a scan.

Are there any special numbers that need to be plugged in. The C1 numbers on lyngsat seem to correspond to the frequency ranges being scanned, but Im not sure about LNB, SR, FEC or what "Lo" is ??

any help would be much appreciated

    cheers

    Hey mate

There are a few setting that need to be correct even if the dish is correctly aligned . Make sure your lnb settings are correct ,this can be normaly found in the satellite settings now most likely its a 10700 or 11300 try both of these and see what you get . once this is done do a blind scan of c1 and you should get something f its aligned right .

    good luck

The numbers you are reporting are most likely for the signal strength. You need to get signal quality (usually second bar) values before you can scan for channels. This is what we'll try to help you with .
Try to give the following details:
    1. STB and DVB-S card model;
    2. What software you are using with your DVB-S card;
    3. Try to reach the LNB itself and write down all details from it. L.O frequencies are very important.

Once you get all this data, we can help with exact settings you require and other users with the same receivers can even lead you step by step through the configuration menues.

    Thanks for the reply chaps

My STB is >> Arion AF3030G

The DVBS card is , all plugged in correctly including firewire and psu connector. All drivers installed, latest firmware on too. FireDTV app and progDVB both find card happily. I have set up according to manual, and not done an "mce setup", although the option was there.

I have noticed signal 'quality' bar waver 40-70%ish during scans.

I climbed up a rickety ladder... >>> heres what the LNB gadget said *exactly*:
    LO: 10.7GHz
    11.7-12.75Ghz
    1000-2050MHz

Here's a cappie of what the fire DTV app(based on progDBV) uses, the numbers listed seem to be the 'default' numbers.. I havent bothered plugging in anything else as Id prefer top understand what it means first!

In the app, Im particularly not clear what LO1, LO2, LO SW should be, given the numbers on my LNB

    ah, to be a newb!!

    EDIT>>>>
Having a better look at those LNB numbers, I decided to plug in:
    L0: 10700
    L02: 11700
    L0 SW: 12750

    >>some 60 odd channels found, most Im assuming are foxtel/austar/audio?? Im watching expo channel now... I cant see Al jazeera, but I guess this because I need to enter different numbers as 'anyone' mentioned. Al Jazeera is irrelevant now, all I wanted to do is make sure my kit all works before doing the reposition

all good on the arion too

Im going to have a play with the STB/app to familairise myself further. But Im glad I didnt get the homecast CI PVR, I now have a 4TB sat PVR/MCE combo super duper!!

Ive also decided Im going to enlist the help of some tradie mates to help me do the repositioning to D2 >> i think Im a bit too chicken that high up on a ladder (<<cue to laugh!)

if anyone is interested Im quite happy to pop back laterand do a review of the floppy card...its an interesting bit of kit...pci/pcie hybrid, making it quite versatile.

    thanks guys!!

You software is setup for dual band LNB. You have a single band.
Those LO frequencies are for both bands and the LOSW is a frequency where you card supposed to switch to another band.
In your case what you entered will work, but it is not propper. Should just enter both LOs as 10700 or leaving LO low = 0 and switch frequency = 10700.
FloppyDTV supposed to be a very good card. BTW, did you buy it here or from O/S?

cheers fromaron, will plug that in. The floppy card is a pre loved one and cost me $180 AUD(delievered) from the US via ebay(2 months old) This was preferable to the $400AUD (after converting from Euros/GBP) to get one from the UK.

I got an irdeto 2.06 softcam last week for $25, also preloved, but tested it on a mates rig and it works fine with his selecttv card

Ive just got some tweaking to do know, and reposition that satellite

    nearly there ....

thanks for all your help thus far!
