no epg, time wrong i have a vantage hd1100s tuned to telkomsat1.
Subscription satellite has been working fine until 3 days ago when my epg went blank and I noticed the clock says 1/1/1970 10:00am
I can find no way to manually set the time, so I assume it syncs from the satellite feed. I can change the time zone, the channel it uses to get info, or turn off getting info. I've tried every channel, i've pulled out my card, power cycled, I've tried everything to get the time set back to normal (including calling my sat provider)
anyone seen this before?
I suddenly find I'm addicted to my epg since I have no idea what times my shows start without it.

Sounds like the STB has gone back to the Factory Default for some reason but 1970??and if your provider says everything is OK their end, other than finding another customer OR trying another STB, maybe you can find their programing online to suffice untill you can sort out the lost Time and Date.
There is also the nasty possibilty that either the STB has a fault or is indicative that the fault MAY get worse and the STB could eventualy shut down altogether.
How old is the STB and can you contact who ever you bought it from?

Is the EPG working with just incorrect times? The time on the STB is sync from the transponder on the sat. Can you try on another sat like D1 and see if the time is sync and the epg populates? What firmware version are you running?

The epg says 'no info available' so it's working, but the time is obviously not (since it's only supposed to sync up 1 week's work).
I suspect the transponder has stopped issuing the time, but my sat provider takes days to get back to me on these issues... so I'm unsure.
I like the idea of re-aiming it and trying that.
I could be possible I have electrical damage to the stb, but doubtful... I'll investigate this as a last resort.
It sure would be easier if I had a way to manually set the time.

yes the pictures are fine. Each show has no INFO on it, so I don't know the name/time/description of the show, but the shows still decode fine. I also can't use the EPG to set recordings.
I can see what channel I'm on, and what the show is. But it feels like when I was a kid and had to channel surf, to find out what was on instead of looking at the guide to see what was coming (not that you can fully trust indonesian programming anyway, it's often not what it claims it will be).

Gordon, the STB is less than 2 years old, purchased from someone selling from this forum. A firmware upgrade may repair, it's most likely not damaged because I have it on an APC UPS 800 with a lightning arrestor on the coax to the dish. I'm hoping it's not damaged, I have 2 others I could put on to see if I'm getting time sync from the sat provider.
