Wii Update

I Have A Wii That Has Been Chipped And I Use Original Games And Copy Of Games. I Am Thinking Of Installing The Homebrew Channel On To It. But It Is Asking To Update The System. I Have Read Some Thread And Its Saying If You Have Homebrew Installed Before The Update The Wii Will Still Work Ok And The Homebrew Channel As Well. So Can I Install The New Update With Homebrew Channel With A Chip?
What Will Happen ??

I installed the HB channel last night with firmware update 3.3e. Worked no worries with the exception of DVDX. Did not look into this however so cannot say whether this has to do with the update.
