Try a new disc and see if that works ok but it sounds like your CD drive may be faulty.
I keep getting the following message on my Wii:
"The game Disc could not be read. Please refer to your Wii Operations Manual for more information."
Seems to be happening with most discs. Any ideas? I've purchased and used multiple times now the laser lens cleaning disc and it's made no difference. In the Game Disc menu the background of the game and music load, I click start and it shows the safety warning about making sure there's space around, and then more often than not the error appears. Sometimes it even gets further though, e.g. in Guitar Hero I got all the way into the main menu and it then came up when I went to Quick Play or the time before it played the intro moves, and then the error appeared.

How old is the unit? I have seen a few faulty drives, but not many overall. The ones I have seen have been a couple of years old and have been flogged.
What would you do if your server was stolen or failed beyond repair?

is it modded
do you know how to open it up
check the drive cables , mainly the one from the mobo to the drive board
Cleaning kits are a waste of flash just wack your dvd or cd into the fridge for ten mins or so,then give it a clean with a tissue. The temperature difference between the lazer and the cd dvd will make it work every time
You never mentioned media being used. When the laser is new it may not be picky, but as it ages it may become picky...dvd+r is a no no for wii. Try burning a game on a good quality dvd-r burnt at 4x...if that fails the optic may be shot & needs replacing.

Yeah, I've purchased some Verbatim DVD-R's now, I'll give them a crack!
I'm going to go with putting a HDD on my Wii ( ref ), so that should reduce my issues too!
