ring them and ask them for the admin pass because they are the ones who put it on there as all acer's come with no pass installed

use this instruction, as it work for me.

A few tools needed:
- ptedit32
- Ultimate Boot CD for Windows
- a Linux Live CD (I used ubuntu lts 6.06)

Heres how to recover the password for eRecovery if you need too:
- Get a copy of ptedit32
- Download and make "Ultimate Boot CD for Windows" or UBCD4Win.com
- Boot into the preinstalled windows
- Run ptedit32
- Change the pqservice partition type to "07", my orginal was "12"... do remember that number
- Boot into linux live cd
- Mount the PQservice partition
- Look at "aimsdrs.dat"
- Change PQService patition type back to "12" (For some reason, mine auto went back)
- Reboot and do eRecovery

That's exactly what I would have done.
I doubt the Fixmbr is going to fix your rebooting problem anyway.

yeah - I probabily will but.....the owner requires his work data off the HD and he thought it would be a good idea to have a password - so I only want it to boot up properly once........ something to do with tax and his pay

why don't you take the HDD out hook it to your computer and backup whatever he wants, then you can format it and give it a fresh install.

if that doesn't serve you, there is a software that removes admin passwords, I'll see if I can find you a link. BTW what sort of computer are you dealing with and what operating system champ?

Hey Aboulaly

xp and I am thinking SP3 and this may be the reason it won't boot up as there is a known problem with SP3 - I will put it in a external and get back to you
