Just wondering if it is possible to change the image that comes up (welcome) when you start the computer up.

Also is it possible to turn the 'recent documents' thingy in the start menu off?

To disable recent documents history:-

* Go to Start -> Run -> type regedit and enter
* Browse to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ Software\ Microsoft\ Windows\ CurrentVersion\ Policies\ Explorer
* Create a DWORD value with the key NoRecentDocsHistory and set the value to 1
* Done, you have just disable recent documents history.
* Please logoff or restart your pc to get the recent documents history take effect.

If you are in multi user computer, you can disable recent documents history once for all user. Just follow the steps below to disable recent documents history:-

* Go to Start -> Run -> type regedit and enter
* Browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ Software\ Microsoft\ Windows\ CurrentVersion\ Policies\ Explorer
* Create a DWORD value with the key NoRecentDocsHistory and set the value to 1
* Done, you have just disable recent documents history.
* Please logoff or restart your pc to get the recent documents history take effect.
