| Junior Member | I have a problem with windows XP Pro. When I log on to the internet I get a message that there are updates for XP. when I install them I get a message that updating FAILED and the 10 updates could not be installed. I reinstalled windows XP and still have the same problem. Is there any way to fix it, as is damm annoying every time i turn the computer on |

![]() | What errors are you getting? Have a look in the Event Viewer it may give more details on what the problem is. How did you reinstall XP? If it was a fresh install you would have lots of updates to install. You can run Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer 2.0 Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer 2.0 and manually install updates, this will probably show the first update that has a problem and you may be able to see what the problem was. It could be an earlier failed update that needs to be done before the rest will update. |

| Senior Member | Linux Mandriva 2007 Spring uses an update that came out with a bug that gave similar reports to that . It was itself corrected by an update in 2008. It is common that the core program is used by XP and by Linux and had the bug and they both used it. Check on update notes for XP and look for update messages In Mandrakes case the programs had actually been updated , only the message was wrong. It is still quite common for this to happen |

![]() | from memory its 1 or so updates causing this if you can dl, go for the stand alone sp3 or sp2 exe pack from The Software Patch - Download site for patches, upgrades, service packs and hardware drivers sp3 beta will leave you with all of 2-3 updates to go turn auto updates off in cp wen u do do updastes,go manual and custom |
