If if update (ie build new ones) my computers at work, can I re-use the windows xp disks on the new computers if I destroy the old ones?

In short yes, when you have to activate windows choose by telephone run through the procedure then you'll be put through to a operator tell them you have updated your cpu and hdd, explain it's still the same chassis

I did it more than once when a hard drive was failing.

They give you ahard time but eventually do it.

I have at least 200 oem keys now due to clients imageing their corporate key over the top.

And now also Vista cause noone wants it and are putting xp on their machines.

Beware of some of the new PCs and laptops - the hardware is designed for Vista and there are (in some cases) NO XP drivers available.

I know of cases where Vista has been taken off new laptops, only to find that XP won't do its thing properly due to lack of drivers for that machine.

I did a laptop like this a week ago, and it took me 3 hours to find XP drivers that actually worked on it [and they weren't designated as being for this machine specifically].

Same here. Did a toshiba the other day. There was NO recovery disk supplied when purchased( only on partitions) the vista system restore corrupted, so smart me thought XP is the go until I tried to get drivers.
So now I got to try and get a vista recovery cd or I will just download a torrent like everyone else!

Me three, bought one of the latest Asus laptops with Vista Home Premium (after boot probs and reformat to start again, losing data, I decided to go back to XP (minus i/e etc etc) and bought new hard drive to replace. Took me a day to get up and running via net and still do not get TV tuner working.

I have been around since the old Sinclairs..Z80 spectrum from fuzzy memory? Bat and Ball games etc.

Pse beware people .... M'crap are influencing large PC sellers. I think XP is supported to 2013 and I know what I must have to use for work etc (XP), until linux gets closer (which it is currently doing all the time)

Summary - don't by PC/laptop unless it can have XP as an alternative, which is still crap imho............. - don't know why I am smiling.........

Sorry mate...can't help you with that one.

It is a AMD cpu laptop.

Toshiba don't make many of those except to the mum's and dad's market.

Try harvey's if you are really stuck i will set it up for you by process of elimination with the other stuff i have here (which is quite afew models).

let me know.
