from what i have read the lo for these two lnb`s just have a different GHz inputs.

10.6= 11.7-12.75
11.6= 12.25-12.75

will the 10.6 LO cover all the frequency`s of the 11.3 (but not the other way around)

it apears to me that the 10.6 simply has a lower input frequency and the same higher end as the 11.3

is my thinking correct? or am i missing a bit of the puzzle?

Hmmm .... your reference to 10.6 and 11.6 in the context of your question is a little confusing (typo?).

Surely you mean 10.7 GHz (10700 MHz) and 11.3 GHz (11300 MHz)?

1/. An LNB with a range of 11.7 GHz (11700 MHz) to 12.75 GHz (12750MHz) has a local oscillator frequency of 10.7 GHz.

2/. An LNB with a range of 12.25 GHz to 12.75 GHz has a local oscillator frequency of 11.3 GHz.

3/. Obviously the first LNB covers a greater range (11.7 GHz - 12.75 GHz) than the second (12.25 - 12.75).

So-called Universal LNB's with a range of 10.7 GHz to 12.75 GHz have two local oscillators with frequencies of 9.75 GHZ and 10.6 GHz and employ 22 KHz switching to select one of the two local oscillators.

so in theory the dedicated motored ku dish (10.7) i have setp will pickup the same freqencies as the lnb on my motored C+ku (LO=11.3) dish if not some more frequencies.??

no the ku lnb i have is 11.7-12.75GHz=LO of 10.6 on my KU setup.

Yes - correct.
I don't think I have ever met one of those LNB's in my extensive travels. (11.7 GHz - 12.75 GHz is the high band of an universal LNB).

10.6 !!! did the trick, i have the optus C1 and D2 booming in 88% on my new motored 90CM ku setup, (lnb angle tweaked)

Now what i need to setup is PAS-8 and of course nothing.... no signal at all
remembering i did peak the signal /lnb tweak for the optus beam, but would the skew angle for the C1 beam be so different that i dont see anything on pas8?? moving the dish slowly to the east i dont even see a rise in the sat finder meter (decoder sitting on selectv TP)

hhhmmm maybe i have tweaked the c1 lnb skew so much that i`m not seeing the pas8 beam at all??

any ideas?

Yup! And no!

Rotate the lnb approx 10-15 'minutes' anti-clockwise looking into the dish as a starting position for Pas8 (if peaked on Optus C1).

However the simple sat finder is a poor skew discriminator (it measures the signal strength of the sum of all vertical or horizontal transponders or somewhere in between), so it is possibly a pointing issue.

Tweak skew with you stb sig/ qual meter.

out of wondering....looking directly in the dish, what "minute" angle should i have the lnb set at for pas-8(and i presume they refer to the "f" conector positition)

you say 10-15minutes anticlock wise so the "f" connectore pointing at say "10-15 minutes to the hour" or about 300 degrees clockwise from 0 degrees

need a picture.... or sketch i think.....hang on ok just made one...

No.

Rotate it by 30-45 degrees anti-clockwise from the current C1 position, which depends on where you are, (Optus C1 about 7 0'clock in Sydney).
