Thanks. I will give EuroDigital a shot. I would prefer to not deal with SatTronics unless I had no other options.

Can the card referred to above be:
- used as a CS client ?
- integrated into a MythTV setup?

I recall asking similar questions here 'before the crash', but never saved the advice. Anyone on here have a Myth setup with a DVB-S support ?

I'd like to add a suitable DVB-S card to my current Myth setup to use with C1, rather than having a Dream sitting next to the Myth frontend.

Thanks,

Jim.....

1) A DVB-S card has nothing to do with a CS client.

2) This card does work with MythTV.

Problem with MythTV is they don't supports softcam's for legal reasons, so any softcam you get running needs to be done with some unsupported hacks/patchs to mythTV

Ah ok,.... fair enough.

I'd assume then that Myth would have to be built from source and patched appropriately to get softcam support.

Any links would be appreciated,..

Thanks,

Jim.....

So is Sasc-NG what I am looking for ? To provide/build a virtual adaptor based on a working DVB-S adaptor ? I've read in one place where they patch Myth but read elsewhere and there was no mention of messing with Myth.

And then select the virtual adaptor within Myth.

Is there anyone here that has done this? And are happy with their setup?

Is the DVB-S card referred to above OK for this task,.. or is an alternate one recommended?

Thanks,

Jim.....

The following Geniatech cards can be found quite cheaply from OS, work very well with recent kernels and allow loop thru for more than one card:

I ended up getting some Digiwave 103G cards. They work out of the box with current linux kernel. They have an antenna out that is some advantage for logging with an additional box/card. Only downfall is the driver for IR receiver needs to be patched into the source code and compiled. I had no need for the IR receiver since I also have a dvb-t usb stick with working out of the box IR drivers.

I got them from Hypermegasat.com $61.89 USD per card + $34.16 USD for shipping of 4 units.

[edit] I run 2 of these cards with Mythbuntu. Sasc-ng hg618 does the decryption for me. Connects to a newcs server. Cards can do multiple channels on the same transponder at the same time. Have not tried with HDTV streams since I don't have access to them but I cannot see why it would not spit out a dvb-s hd stream since it is just another data stream. Bandwidth is not a problem since it does multiple dvb-s sd streams at the same time.

[edit2] I dealt directly with Hypermegasat via email. They issued me a paypal invoice as soon as we had worked out the shipping. Response via email was the best I have ever had with a online store.

Sorry Phillip, I'm not of any help as I think eurodigital closed shop, and Sattronics don't carry them anymore.

Not sure who carries them.
