Default How to watch Encrypted channels on PC ???

hey guys I've been doing alot of research and reading articles but I cant seem to come to terms with the complex understanding how the underground world works.

I plan to watch Cable and Satellite Tv channels on my PC.

I've purchased a PCI TV Card Digital Tuner DVB-T HDTV from ebay and I would like to watch Cable TV? I know I need an Antenna to Coaxial plug converter and when i get a program to scan the channels will that all be sufficient for it to work ? or is my hardware limited ?

My other question is on Satellite TV viewing on my PC Would buying a DVB-S or DVB-S2 PC Tuner PCI card to view FTA channels on my satellite dish can I also get a software program to decode the encrypted channels to watch ? Or do I need to get the sufficient hardware equipment to watch Satellite Encrypted channels.

I prefer to go via the PCI TV Tuner card way the other methods seem to complex to me.

The encryption the satellites using in my region is Irdeto 2 Videoguard & Irdeto 2

    Regards Chaman

    Wink

    G'Day Cobber,
I don't like your chances with what you have suggested.
About all you will get are the FTA unencrypted channels.
Methinks a lot more reading is required to broaden your horizons.
Kindest Regards, " The Druid ".

What would be my best options to consider would going via that method be slime in achieving my goal ? Should I consider looking into hardware equipment and cards that are programed to by pass irdeto2 cryptoworks etc

kokaz you have a lot of reading to do. You will soon find out what you can see and what you can't see and there is not much to see.

Fox IQ is your answer! Or a valid sub, a dreambox and watch it via web-x tv.

Okay I see So my idea of using a DVB-S or a DVB-S2 Tuner will not be able to descramble the encryption of satellite even if I get the software for it or I'll be able to view some channels or whatever. and for watching Optus/foxtel pay tv the DVB-T would only pick up FTA and If I was to descramble paytv channels they might or might not appear.

So my best option is to 1. READ UP ON HARD EQUIPMENT THAT CAN DO THE JOB ?

Right ? is there substantial information on this board whre I can begin my Journey ? and what would be the recommendation ?

not justthis site but many sites will help you in understanding.

Might I suggest that you start by, as suggested, search on the topic of dreamboxes, particularily the dm500s, also, Cccam is anothe hot topic that will require your understanding.

it can be done, but as stated you need a legit sub.

some things you need to look up dvb-viewer, acamd, newcs

SAT PC card + progdvb/mytheatre + wincsc on PC -> newcs on Dreambox or PC + phoenix + sub card = different channel viewing on dream and PC, depends on if sub card has sharing countermeasures.

Was possible to do that with whitey as well when it worked, It may still be possible??

Or you could just use two dreams and have one near your pc if it accepts video/audio in.

    Hi Kokaz..

Do a search for skynz nds3 jaycar. I posted a tutorial some time ago on how to get these working on an HTPC. If the links are dead i can repost it.

The best most stable HTPC system in my opinion is this.

    --------------
get an old pc. ( i use 700mhz duron, 128mb ram), jaycar reader, linux ubuntu 8.04

install linux. Install newcs. Configure to read AND start the card. Install cccam on the pc with all references to the reader removed. add an N: line to connect cccam to Newcs.

    --------------

On your HTPC install GB-PVR, Media-Portal or ProgDVB and install the MDAPI plugin 'Hadu' or 'Fly-CCcam' and configure it to connect to CCcam on the card server.

I do it this way because although both Acamd and WinCSC (the windows encryption plugins) connect DIRECTLY to NewCS and work... they do poll the card a lot and cause crashes.

interesting.... didn't know that, will give the other two a try. Acamd works for me though.

Yeah they all work... i have tried a lot of different ways.. Connecting with Hadu or Fly to the remote CCcam is a lot more forgiving... I have a few boxes on my card and if i dont connect the PC this way it makes the other boxes freeze a lot and miss ecm's. As I have said before I am in no way and by no means dissing these plugins.. they are awesome and all respect due goes out to the authors.

Another plugin that works really well with skynz on an htpc is mdapi plugin NDScam 0.0.5 or 0.0.7. The jaycar sits on the serial port and NDScam coms directly to the card. It is limited to the fact that you cannot re-share with this softcam.

This is the 'happiest medium' when you have a lot of card activity.

    Andy_m,
few latest acamd versions can connect to cccam now, works a treat with
    acamd->cccam->oscam with DVBViewer

    Cheers

You can also use a PC and dvb-s(2) tuner(s) with CI card interface, CAM and legit sub cards to view encrypted sat tv services such as Aurora and Selectv directly on a htpc setup. Standalone apps such as dvbviewer, progdvb etc or full mediacentre apps such as windows MCE, mediaportal etc. There are no suitable cams for Austar/Foxtel that I know of though.
