The box will not play my vast card in either the slot or cam.
When in slot, the box does not recognise it at all...when placed in cam it displays the info, but alas no piccies.

    Sorry for the bad news.

I bought a qty of these and finally got around to having a play earlier! Bang for buck I think they are good value.
Setting up and scanning in channels is relatively straight forward as was setting up CS connections (mgcamd, cccam, etc).
Aurora Irdeto2 card was working in the slot. I don't have an NDS card to test but they do also work and there is a 'field' to enter the boxkey.
No go with VAST Irdeto Kappa cards unfortunately or Austar cards as there is no tweak support in the firmware but you can get an Irdeto 1 card to work in the slot with the right firmware.
There only is a numeric display for channel numbers only but the on screen is comprehensive with a similar feel to a dreambox skin.
The build quality is relatively good and the remote isn't too bad though the buttons feel a little doughy but it's got lots of functionality. The only thing I didn't play with was the PVR functionality. It's doesn't do everything that an UltraPlus does but hey for the price I reckon it's great value.

Were you able to use that menu?...I can't seem to access it with the new software onboard, and a reference in another euro forum mentioned it is entered by altering the ca clock setting menu.

Good to see you giving fair evaluation to your other imports...that's great to see from our buying perspective...thank you.

Hey Leroy any tips on which f/w to use for an Ird1 card? I assume it has to do with the CCcam version it has...... Right?

    Thanks

I'm not sure there is a relationship to cccam. You're probably confusing the DM500 with cccam 2.0.0 with autoroll files or the like.

This just downloads a rsapi.cgi file to my pc and I can't do anything with it. Does anyone have a link that will get it to come down via a zip file, or is there something special to use on the cgi. file to get it to work?

    Thanks

Got it....a copy put here in case others need it.

From forum I pinched it from
It's a transport stream file with some additional headers. The attached program will strip it down to a .ts file. Recent versions of Windows Media Player play .ts files (or at least they do on Windows 7), or the free program VLC will play them on any operating system.

vlc wouldn't play it for me...hence original Q

How are you guys going with the HDD?

    I'm running
    HDS2-10-11-08:1034CMT

When I put in a 500gb portable usb drive, RECORD MANAGER won't see it...NTFS format
When I put in a 16gb usb stick, RECORD MANAGER won't see it...FAT32 format
When I put in a 8gb usb stick, RECORD MANAGER will see it...FAT32 format

Can you give me some advice what you may be using on 16gb and up on the HD please?

    Thanks

I'm sure they don't support NTFS. The UltraPlus only just implemented NTFS support and I've not seen it on others.

Any other input from others? Thanks to the others.

Still can't get my unit to recognize the drive.
Have tried rebooting, reconnecting etc, no joy.
Soon as the smaller stick goes in...bingo.
