I have been having a battle with getting 2 dvb-t usb tuners working. My Twinhan alpha was running fine by itself but as soon as I tried to record off the Dvico Fusion USB both USB devices would produce a corrupt stream. I assumed it was some noise coming from the Fusion because I was using the antenna out on it to plug in the alpha. I got a 1 into 2 RF splitter (unpowered) and the correct fly cable and plugged it all up expecting everything to be solved. To my dismay it still produced the same problem. Scratching my head I decided to check dmesg output.. "Cannot run a USB 2.0 device in a USB 1.1 port".... Did I feel like an idiot. Swapped 2 USB plugs around in the back of the PC and fired it all up. It is all working perfect now.

One benefit out of it is I found out I get a low BER reading on channel 7 and zero on the others. The Alpha tuner only gets around 10-12. The Fusion gets 2000. The loose using the TV out on the Fusion is practically 0. So the alpha has a better tuner in it. I will be setting the record priority lower on the Fusion.

Still to do on my MythTV setup is getting the IR working, currently just using a mini BT KB. It has been so satisfactory I had not bother to configure the IR. Also need to make a cron job to check Newcs is running and start it up if it is not. It crashed yesterday for no reason.

I have a rather odd problem. I've been using sasc-ng for about a year now and now I had to compile and use new v4l-dvb module because I just bought 2 new receivers that didn't work on my 2.6.24-19 kernel.

So I compile the v4l-dvb module and did the install and my receivers are working fine but now I need to recompile sasc-ng so I did:
Code:
sudo ./configure --dvb-dir=/usr/src/v4l-dvb
sudo make module
sudo make
I get errors when I run make:
Code:
In file included from /usr/src/v4l-dvb/linux/include/linux/videodev.h:16,
                 from sc/dvbdevice.cpp:13:

The dvbloopback.ko does get created and when I insmod it it will cause a kernel oops.

Anyone had similiar issues ?

Default Which kernel and sasc-ng version is more stable?

Hi guys!

I was trying to get my linux media center to run and find out that it's hanging a little while after I get a LOCK on the DVB.

mediacenter:~ # lspci | grep -i b2c2
01:08.0 Network controller: Techsan Electronics Co Ltd B2C2 FlexCopII DVB chip / Technisat SkyStar2 DVB card (rev 01)
01:09.0 Network controller: Techsan Electronics Co Ltd B2C2 FlexCopII DVB chip / Technisat SkyStar2 DVB card (rev 01)

Yeap, I have two of them.

Which kernel works best for you? I'd rather try different kernels before I assume it's a hardware problem.

Also, I wasn't able to make sasc-ng decode my pay tv. I have a TV box that has a payed card along with it, but I need it also on my media center (recordings, timeshifts, etc). I am trying to get it working with Digi TV (romanian provider).

Any help or links with detailed howto's will be greatly appreciated.

Default Changed to dvb api

@ Bent

The new dvb drivers introduced recently within the last month have had changes to the dvb api . The regular dvbloopback module will not work with them . I have heard that there are patches that you need to apply to the dvbloopback source to get it to work . If you can, try older dvb drivers , they should work .

Default Going around in circles

Hi everyone

I'm new to this whole area, and Ive been trying to get sasc-ng, newcs and myth to play together.

I've had myth running for about 4 years with 2 Divico dvb-t cards, so when I noticed this thread I decided to grab a dvb-c card (tt-2300) and give it a go.

Initially everything went well, card recognised and module loaded, dvbloopback module seems ok, myth able to scan the channels from loopback device, newcs reading the card, but I cant get sasc-ng to connect to newcs. Every time I start it, it fails with Newcamd:15000 ] Can't decrypt client msg, rejecting!

Ive checked and played with the des key but cant get rid of the problem. I hope someone can help

From my notes I took when i had a play a little while back:
newcamd:localhost:15000:1/09XX/FFFF:mythtv:mythtv:0102030405060708091011121314

You could also try the radegast connection ??

Jimbo is on the money. Try ragegast. I did get newcamd working but it was unstable. Radegast works for me.

Default Slight Progress

Well I swapped to using a radegast client, and it did connect to newcs, but gave a blackscreen and segfaults on sasc-ng when trying to view the card from mythtv.

So I changed to the radegast server, which I can get sasc-ng to connect to via radegast or newcamd, and the radegast server reports activity. Sasc-ng doesnt get very far, giving:
HTML Code:
CHANNEL: start: read pes returned err: 11
start: read pes returned: Resource temporarily unavailable
At least sasc-ng isnt segfaulting, but no picture no audio and Im lost

The only other clues I can find in the logs are:
HTML Code:
NDS: CAMcrypt K0 = 21 F5 6C 5C 34 21 72 17 96 F7 33 2B B6 xx xx xx [len=10]
NDS: CAMcrypt failed
NDS: DOUBLE INIT finished
NDS: used second key
Do I need to specify the box id or something?

cheers

John

hello all, i two had a black screen using 1.06 cam n selectv..but with imparja was no dramas, lashed out n bought version 2 irdeto n same black screen, in the end i formated and installed knopmyth and everything works but..poor signal strengh ie 32% 8 % ber. Using windows its 95% 80%ber. I have a twinhan 1030a. Its got me baffled to the point where i think mythtv discoverers the right card but attaches the wrong tuner. All versions mythdora, knoppmyth and mythbuntu, all do the same thing..poor signal.
any ideas?

beserk60. Some tuners need a command to turn on the front end amplifier. Check if your card needs this.

So I compile the v4l-dvb module and did the install and my receivers are working fine but now I need to recompile sasc-ng so I did:
Code:
sudo ./configure --dvb-dir=/usr/src/v4l-dvb
sudo make module
sudo make
I get errors when I run make:

The dvbloopback.ko does get created and when I insmod it it will cause a kernel oops.

Anyone had similiar issues ?
I have had identical issues. I am unable to build any of the various sasc-ng repositories out there. It seems something fundamental has changed in the newest v4l-dvb api, but I am no developer, so I wouldn't know.

If anyone has working instructions on building dvbloopback.ko for a Ubuntu 2.6.24-19 kernel with the latest v4l-dvb, I would be most grateful. Since my ATI video driver is not yet stable for XV either, I'm current unable to get much functionality from my Hauppage Nova HD S2 sard.

btw: First post here, and I'm not at all Austrian or Australian. Which one is it?

I just recently built dvbloopback with a new v4l and 2.6.27-4 kernel. I found a patch over at happysat that updates dvbloopback to work with the new headers in v4l.

dvbloopback works fine now but I still could not compile sasc-ng. I just used a binary built from another system with a older kernel. (2.6.24-16 I think)

Thanks for the tip, I will look into the Happysat forum for the patch.

Where could I find a sasc-ng binarie? Wouldn't it need to be build with the same v4l-dvb version to work correctly?

I built the sasc-ng binary on a fresh install of mythbuntu 8.04.

dvbloopback had to be compiled on the kernel it is running on.

here is the patch

Thanks for the link, I already found it on my own.

I think I have a build sasc-ng in my build directory already, I run 8.0.4.1 at the moment. Is is better to upgrade to 8.10 Beta? I haven' tried yet.

I hope I get it working with this information.

I am very GREEN to Linux OS. I have Ubuntu 8.04 & MythTV installed. I managed to get sasc-ng built.

I am lost after the above as I do not know what to do next?

I have vp1020a dvbs card. Is there a link that provides newbies like me, ie step by step instructions.

Thanks covert for sharing this useful threat.

First you need to load the loopback..

Code:
insmod dvbloopback.ko
Then you need to run sasc-ng (assuming the loopback loaded)

Code:
LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/src/sasc-ng/sc/PLUGINS/lib/  /usr/src/sasc-ng/sasc-ng  --daemon --sid-allpid --cam-dir /etc/camfiles --cam-budget -o --log /var/log/sasc-ng.log  -j 0:1
Change paths as needed..

Today I sucsessfully built rev 46 o open-sasc-ng on a 2.6.27-4-generic
system with new v4l (1 month old). Both sasc-ng and dvbloop built and loaded without errors.

Check post 6 and 7 on this thread at happysat.

I don't think my reader requires any initial setup with nftytool, as it's not an infinity reader, but rather a serial phoenix reader with an embedded usb to serial chip.

Any ideas of what's wrong here? I'm trying to use it with a blue foxtel cable card.

Do I need to specify the card number in the boxkey value?

Check the newcs readme. I have not checked myself but I think I remember some mention of the smartmouse in there.
