    Default Generic Radeon 4850

My mrs just purchased a new system from a computer fair.

All and good, drivers up but it recognizes the graphics card as "RADEON 4800 series", Not Sapphire ATI RADEON 4850.

This has me a bit worried that its a cheapie generic or a counterfit.

So i looked at the pics of 4850's and they look pretty darn different.
The only place this thing says sapphire is on the fan.

So I called the bloke and he told me they change the look of them all the time.
    BS.

So I just wanna make sure I've got ammo when I go see him and or fair trading.
Does anyone have a 4850? If so what does it come up as under device manager?
    Any info would be great.

    CHeers.

    yeh mate
the drivers will come up as radeon 4800 series....

    so any 48XX card...

    also
the cards are different, design changes ALL the time...

designs usually change in between brands and even in the same brand

If you install the correct drivers for it it should get picked up as a 4850 card...

    lol, yea well
theres lots different brands, models in the same series.
got to do your homework 1st if you want what you pay for.
but if it was a cheap pc, i guess it would be the bottom line generic card.
its still a watever it is, diff is, its wirth $80 and has ddr2 memory.
the good 1's worth $150 and ddr3 memory, basicly...

btw, wats the specs you paid for and how much

    paid $1370
    For a

    ASUS-P5KC
    E8500
    4850 512mb dual dvi
    2 gigs of DDR3 ram
    19inch monitor
    xp home disc
    500gb seagate
    numan case

Watched him build the whole thing, and asked the guy repeatedly to use the sapphire not the generic. Then got sus when the box was already open and i was surprised how thin it was.
Still not 100% if its genuine.

Btw, how do I check the speed of the ram?
    Was supposed to be 1333.

Google then Download cpuz, it will spit out your specs on a report.
