    Default Monitor/TV recommendations

I am looking for a 26" TV that will do double duty as a PC monitor i.e. monitor until the CRT TV craps out.

It will need to have VGA as well as HDMI inputs.

    Good to excellent sound.

USB record facility would be nice but not essential.

In other words something similar to the Samsung LA26D450G1M. Not sure about its USB record facility though!

I purchased the unit in my second post.

As a TV it works quite well - the EPG is a load of .. however.

I haven't connected the PC as yet ...

    it will be fine

you will find you will need to adjust the screen setting for the pc manually

    i set it to 1920x1080

then manually set the width and height using the video software

So far I have only tried it with an ODROID U3 with Ubuntu and it overscans terribly. There seems to be two options, one of which (720) is just usable the other (1080) is not usable at all. There are resolution threads on the ODROID forum but I haven't read many of them yet to see if it is actually possible to tweak the settings.

It will be interesting to see what happens when I use this machine.

I have had email correspondence with DSE - quite helpful.

For the ODROID U3 the conclusion seems to be to use a HDMI to VGA adapter. There are some screen choices when using VGA input. I will know soon as I have ordered an adapter and a VGA cable.

I have tried, on this machine, a DVI to HDMI adapter to the TV using the TV HDMI input. Picture is not real bad ...

The VGA cable will be tried on this machine to the TV as well.

The HDMI to VGA adapter works very well.

EDIT: During boot the TV shows a pop-up "Auto Adjusting ..." Not sure exactly what it is doing but the result is as desired.

Actually 3.5mm stereo plug to 3.5mm stereo plug. The correct picture size, to me, is more important. Anyway only another $5 for the cable.
