| Junior Member | Hi guys, I am building a new PC and for some reason it keeps on shutting itself off randomly (doesnt stay on for more than 10mins) At first i thought its the motherboard so i took it back & they replaced it for me but its still happening with the 2nd motherboard. I have checked the CPU temp and its always around 27c. Any suggestions would greatly be appreciated Below are the specs: 1. gigabyte GA-X48-DQ6 2. Pioneer DVR-216BK 3. Sony burner DRU190S 3. corsair twin 2x2048 pc8500 (1066mhz) ddr2 ram 240pin dimms non ecc 4. ATI HD3850 pcie2.0 1gb XpertVision 2 of them. 5. case lian li pc-p80 6. seagate HD 160Gb X2 and 1TB seagate X1 5. power supply tr2rx 550w thermaltake power supply |

| Super Moderator | Your PSU may be a little under powered. Checkout the ATI certified PSU list, most are greater than 550W. AMD GAME ATI CrossFireX? Admittedly they won't need that much power if you are only showing the desktop. Disconnect all the HDs and burners except the boot hd and see how long it lasts, or disconnect all except a dvr and boot to a cd and see how long it lasts. |

![]() | That's the problem, known issue is the cooling fan not working properly. Sapphire and ATI cards are affected. People are waiting on the GPU bios updates but have not held their breath, so they are using third party software similar to RivaTuner to create their own Fan Speed Profiles. This problem can also be seen on the 3870's as well, the shut down is a safety feature so you cards don't catch fire. |

| Junior Member | thanks for all the replies i replaced the PSU with a 330W just to test things and so far its running great. I hope im not gonna have any probs with the video cards i never liked ATI i dont know why i ended up buying 2 of them ![]() I suspect a problem with the hard drive as well i set the 2 160Gbs as raid 1 and today one of them had a problem and i had to rebuild so i dont know if this indicates a problem with the hard drive also my 1Tb doesnt show up in windows anymore but i havent had the time to check in bios |

| Banned | rufus lol... you should know better than to be sucked in by PSU wattage ratings... i reckon that system would run nicely on a 380Watt antec earthwatts system, i have a similar setup running on one of the mentioned psus no issues...
