Default Stable MB for Core2 Ext QX9650 (777)

Guys, first time in this area, normally hang out in the dodgy Sat section, but six weeks ago I ordered a system for my son little fart, deposit paid but I am told that the CPU and MB combo are not stable enough for them to sell it to me at the moment, the system is to be:
INTEL CORE 2 EXTREME QX9650 3.0 (775( QUAD CORE CPU
MB - ASUS with 780i chipset
G.SKILL 2GB DDR 2 800 W/HSINK (May be changed when final MB is selected)
ASUS GEFORCE 8800GT 512MB X TWO
PIONEER 2OX DVD/BURNER 115D X TWO
WESTERN DIGITAL RAPTOR 150GB 16MB 10K X 1
WESTERN DIGITAL 500GB 16M SATAII X TWO
THERMALTAKE ARMOUR CASE
THERMALTAKE A2400 SIDE COVER
THERMAL TAKE ICAGE HDD HOLDER
SONY 1.44 FDD
ASUS VW222U 22INCH LCD
WINDOWS XP PRO

Sorry bout the caps, easier to type off the invoice

I beleive they are doing the right thing, they are up to the fifth bios upgrade atm, also waiting for a XFX version to see if that is more stable. Any comments welcome as I can still change any of the above if needed - Fart

Is he controlling NASA with that thing?

What a waste of money. You'd be better off with a not-so-stupidly-expensive CPU on an ASUS or Gigabyte mainboard. Less compatibility problems. The same problem is happening with the 'real' quad-core AMD CPU's (Phenom series) at the moment.

What a beaut system, excellent for gaming although you could save some money on the CPU and upgrade the GT cards for two GTX just to complete the package, wonder what 3D mark 06 this rig would get???

Appreciate the feedback, have been advised by a few dudes to upgrade the two cards a bit...yes the CPU is a big issue as they cannot get a MB with the 780i chipset to run stable in SLI. Little farts four and a half grand is burning a hole in his pocket - fart

All done, ended up going with an XFX 780i MB and two 8800GT's, this MB can handle three 8800 GTX's or three 8800 ULTRA's, probably should have gone with these for little fart, but all done, goes so well I ordered another on with two 8800 GTX's for little farts brother (I am paying for this one), he will actually use the capacity in time and the third 8800GTX when required as his games or more intensive - fart
