I had a go swapping the 3.0 ghz cpu to the asus p4s800-mx mainboard nothing. So i tried using my 2.4 ghz cpu the px8 neo-v mainboard nothing at all. I know the p4s800-mx and the 24 ghz works cause that booted up fine. any other ideas what it might be?

Can you give us a list of things you have tryed already?

Do you know if the P4S800-MX works ?
You have tryed the P4S800-MX m/b in your computer with both CPU's ?
When you tryed the P4S800-MX did you test it just with the onboard videocard and 1 stick of ram?

The PSU is the Power Supply Unit
IF you have a spare PSU try that or can you get a lean of one to test with

To clear the cmos (bios) "unplug the power" then remove the battery from the motherboard for 5-10mins
or (with the battery out) get a coin and touch both battery terminals at the same time for 5sec
then put the battery back in. That will reset the cmos (bios) back to default settings

Also try what phill said with your ram if you have 2 sticks of ram try 1 at a time or if you have a working stick use that to test with (just to rule out a stuffed ram stick)

try these and see how you go
