![]() | been on the phone this morning trying to sort this out. Connected as you say best4less. All good except he needs to turn the wireless on and off but does not know the password for the router. Tried the usuals and a reset is out of the question as he does not want to lose settings.

![]() | Hi B4L, The way you described that last scenario, is how I run my wireless network as in modem -> ethernet cable -> Router -> ethernet cable -> PC and it works well. My problem with that is I don'y want to run wireless all the time. Rob was trying help show me a way of turning wireless off but I have a minor problem with that. Cheers and Thanks for all input ![]() Gee Rob you beat me to it ) |

![]() | I know when i reset my router it saved all the settings and every thing but I think it was because of Firefox storing the info ???? ![]() Probably the easiest thing to do is go get another wireless router cheap and set that up and then reset the linksys ![]() I find it handy to have a spare wireless around the house ![]() Good luck mate hope it all works out ![]()

![]() | FYI, Copied this from whirlpool forum- OptusNet IP address OptusNet normally serve out dynamic IP addresses. Because broadband is basically on all the time, your IP rarely changes though. The lease time is 24 hours for those of you interested. Unless you have obtained a static IP address from OptusNet (see further information below), then your address is dynamic so DO NOT fix the IP in the PC/router/gateway. Note: Do not block port 67 on your firewall, as this will disallow your PC to get an IP from the OptusNet DHCP server. You can use Whirlpool Browser Test page - whirlpool.net.au/user-wtf.cfm to find out your IP address Static IP Addresses Small Business DSL customers may be eligible to obtain a static IP address at no extra cost. They either need to be on one of the current plans ( Optus - Small Business - Business DSL ) or on the older Small Business Unlimited* or Small Business Unlimited* Pro plans. The Static IP address can only be obtained by phoning Customer Service after the service is activated. Static IP addresses are not available on OptusNet Cable. |

![]() | UPDATE Hi Rob and B4L, Managed to figure out my password and entered it, and got to the router setup page. Was able to disable wireless and create a shortcut on the desktop for future use. Many thanks guys, as my signature says "Still learning" ![]() |
