as I mentioned , you will need a NSW DEC email address, most of primary/ high school students have them, I used my daughter's@education.nsw.gov.au as the windows 7 and office will be installed on here PC.

For all students, there's the Microsoft "DreamSpark" site that has been running for a number of years. You need a registered education institution email address.

I asked MasterRadio if he had a .edu email, says he has but not sure of addy but stated all the academic products have an expiry date, is this so?

    That's if .edu would work.

I've been using Windows Server 2008 from the DreamSpark site in my lab VM for a few years and it hasn't expired. As far as I can tell, the products are not modified, but the license conditions are different. I think you have to agree to stop using the product when you leave Uni/school.

Some products (e.g. Windows Server 8) are beta releases and these will be time bombed.

If your student email doesn't work, they used to provide another way to prove that you are a student. When it first came out, my Uni wasn't registered (it is now) and I had to obtain an ISIC card from the University travel agent. I think it cost $10 (well worth it for access to the software).
