| Member | Gday all, a mate of mine has come across a problem with his PC and i didn't know what was happening. I've recently put a new hdd in his computer and installed windows XP. i also installed Kaspersky internet security 2008 and the computer was working just fine. About a week later, he would be browsing the internet and then he would get kicked off. the bottom of the screen where the "Start" button is also disappeared the whole way along. The only way to get it all back is to pul the plug and restart the computer. When you try and reconnect to the internet, it would let you on for about 2 minutes and then you'd get kicked off. i dont really want to reformat the computer again. if i cant get it going, i think i'll pull the drive out and put it in a external housing and connect it to my PC and run a virus scan. Does anybody have any suggestions? Thanks Slick1 |

| Senior Member | It's clearly an explorer issue. When your start menu disappears your explorer is sick. One of the main problems with Windows is that the browser is tied into the OS's user interface so tightly that if one goes, they all go. Previous restore point as suggested earlier is a good place to start. Use Firefox as suggested. You have what is regarded as the best Internet security suite on the market by many. |
