| Member | I have a HP IPAQ HX4700 (which is geting old like me) and I was wondering if it can run Windows Mobile 5 or 6. It is currently running its original system, Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition. I mainly use the unit to run my CoPilot Live GPS. Should I leave as is or upgrade the operating system if it will run it ? Any ideas or helpful comments appreaciated. Regards. |

Is there some reason that you want too upgrade the OS. Unless there is some new features in WindowsMobile that you want, why change it. If it's not broken, don't fix it. | |

I agree totally with you, if it's not broken, don't fix it. My only concern was with it being so old, that the newer software (CoPilot Live 7) it may struggle to run it. But I think I may have jumped the gun a bit. I think I'll stay as I am for now and deal with upgrading OS if or when needed. Regards Last edited by Jims Brother : 24-04-08 at 10:41 AM. ![]() | Just installed 6.1 to my 4700. Was running 6.0 and noticed a huge speed improvement. It is way better than 2003. Just download the loader and firmware (I used Sanjay's version) from the_scotsman's link, extract it to c:\ (root directory), disable wcescomm.exe via control panel, put your ipaq into bootloader mode (might take a few tries), plug it into the usb cable and away you go. takes around 15 minutes...... |

| Junior Member | Good day I give in, another words HELP! Im ready to pay some one to load 6.1 from Kozhura onto my 4700. Right now I have spent about 10 hours trying to get it to load. I have been following the directions but I'm missing something. After a lot of time I got it to load, but now it seems to be in "clearing files" mode. It comes out of that mode if I do the reset thing. I can get it back to the hp USB screen. I'm charging the battery now in hopes to get it to do something else. I will try again to reload tonight, but don't expect much. I also have the HP wm 6.1 upgrade but I rather not load it because of what I hear about the benefits of the Kozhura 6.1.
