Anyone got one ? I would be interested in your opinion as to the claim of "replace your laptop"
Can they really replace your laptop or are their times when they are not up to the job ?

I notice the 3 is now out, so there should be some good deals on the 2.
I have a SP2 with 512gb storage and 8gb ram, use it daily and using now.
Takes a little getting used to but it is awesome, without the keyboard i wouldn't bother though.

A customer did a loan on one about a week ago, didn't really have a chance to fully test it, but the one thing I did notice was how quick it was, very responsive and very quick to open programs
Overpriced crap. Hard to get accessories only for Microsoft fanboys. Get a decent ultra book with 8gb ram. And if you must have a tablet there are plenty of atom tablets that are more than powerful enough to do web and office etc.
And yes I have done SOE for surface 1 2 and yes 3 at work
They are expensive (the 3 is), but in my opinion money is well spent on an item you are happy with rather than under spending on crap that you want to smash every time you turn it on.
I already have a tablet and don't want an ultra book.
I bought a SP2 for my son for when he is at Uni ... he likes it a lot, the battery does not last a long time but he gets what he wants done in that time frame.
I still have to get him a keyboard (very overpriced) for it but he is happy without one just to take notes etc.
What sort of tablet do you have and what doesn't it do? What is it that the surface would do that other gear cannot. So far the 3 is the best of them the 1 and the two really were just a bit frustrating. For example the Samsung slate 7 (with windows 8.1 on it now)which the original test platform for windows 8 is "better" than either the surface 1 or two as far as I'm concerned. And I've had at least half a dozen trial tablets sitting on my desk in the past year.
The 3 is heavier and a bit rougher than I expected and would lead to being used more like a laptop than a tablet, so in that respect it could be a laptop replacement.
Pretty happy with my Surface Pro 2. Was tossing up between this and a Macbook Air but the low-res screen and my unfamiliarity with OSX swayed my decision to the Surface. I'm hoping they start to take off and I can upgrade to an SP5 or 6, which should be a really compelling device.
