have tried with a null cable pins 2-3 3-2 5-5 and allos tried with a straight through.

i think i saw a flicker of the red light with the straigh through cable

It should work, but make sure its in the correct mode.

You need a pwr supply for it (I think the V have a usb port, so use that for pwr if you like). Put it in Phoenix mode. From memory I think there is a white button that you push and on each push the 7 seg display will change.

I think it was a straight cable, but not 100% on that.

Then the trick is to find the software that will work on you version of windows. Alot of the earlier software has issues with windows, not the programmer. Also make sure the card goes in the right way

I think you will find the cable that works for the jaycar will work with the Mastra.

I think card writer uses "pic mode" to send the card OS/bin files and then pheonix to send "commands" to the card. Been a long time

What sort of card are you looking at ? Is it blank or does it have something on it?

There isent any software for it that i know of just plug it in most programs will work with it. but you must have a serial port or you are stuffed. i had to get a pcmcia to rs232 adapter for my laptop as it doesnot have a serial port.the serial to usb leads dont work with many programs.hope that has enlightened you a bit.

I have a Mastera II.. very similar to the V version..
(dont actually know what differences there are)

I can / have used Ghost Gold, FM card, Card Writer etc.

Its all been done under XP Pro & serial port...

the programme is sometimes depending on what card your playing with & what your trying to actually do..

*fergs* I know windows XP and work for some and not others.
I had the IV and V and used the rs232 most of the time.
I had mixed results with the old goodies like fmedit, lmedit and ggedit. But never had a problem with other apps like ICProg.

One day i had too much time on my hands and wrote my own version of ggedit and it worked fine.

btw: There is a driver and app for the usb but not from mastera
I tried heaps and found one. Since I gave away my gear a long time ago I dont have the files... But i think the usb is an infinity style but the infinity code wont work as it says its not there programmer. The usb was very fast with the right tool to send the bin file to the cards, but I never got the phonix side to work on usb. RS232 worked fine most of the time.
