How long should it take to extract the HMK from a goldie V1.2 card? I'm using a Jaycar MkI and FMcard 400. After 10 minutes, still nothing.

Use lmedit to receive the HMK. Its very quick with the goldies. It`ll take about 5-10 seconds as long as setting are correct.

If LMedit doesn't work, try GGedit.

fmcard is only for genuine sub cards.

above editors will only work on a goldie programmed with ghost gold......

if the goldie has any other code on it(v17, beamer etc), no go...

I presume you've studied WhiteOx's guide ...... if you're extracting from an original sub card.

Yep have read that. Bit confusing for a newbie, but I'm trying to work through it.
Ok, I was trying to read a goldie, that I acquired, not an original sub card.

If it's programmed with GhostGold you can use the above mentioned apps to read the hmk.
LMedit or GGedit.
