Default Sky Racing "Red Button" extras

Sorry if this has been covered before.
But how is the extra information handled when you press the red button whilst on Sky Racing??

You get the odds and all the race data from different tracks etc.
Is it a Data Stream they sync with the Video Stream???

I know it wasn't via the phone line, as the phone line wasn't plugged in
And i see you can place bets via your remote control... Boy have i been living in the dark!!!
It's a live link too, as you can watch odds come in and go out near the start of races.
Any idea how it is done?

If you interesting in horse racing this site made by one of my family members maybe of some use. He has programmed software to calculate what horse is going to win on stastics its fully automated.

Maybe some interest to some members who are into horse races:

Thanks mate, more wondering if a bloke using a Dreambox can get the extra info you can on a provider box.
IE: is it provided via a Data Stream or via some other way?
Seems little is known about it.

As for Horse Racing programs, i have a program and USB thumb drive with a key that cost some clown mate of mine $8000 from an NT gambling company.
It shows what actual bet goes on what horse, you can filter it by amount... so you can excluded all the $5, $10, $20 bets and just watch for when someone drops a large single amount on a horse seconds before the race. Say $20,000 or $50,000... then using that info, you check the odds and decide if you want to get on the back of it.

It's all crap though, it's still gambling and their is no sure thing.... plus the company in NT is now under investigation.

Could be a new service starting in April as well as going HD perhaps?

Thats the same as the 'You Cant Loose' racing/gambling program emanating from Queensland.
The only ones who make money on ANY gambling scheme is the seller of the program.

Now if they included a bottle of Holy Water and swatch of 'Fine Cotton', I might be tempted.

When you read the very cleverly worded disclaimer, unless the law is changed and specificaly bans this material, this 'Investigation' will simply fizzle out as they are breaking no laws and publication of such matter pays Tax's and gives people jobs in the printing trades so outlaw at your own risk.

I used it late last year and found myself betting just for the sake of it. Because it was there.
Can even top up your TAB account via CCard via remote.
    Very dangerous for some.

Phone line required for logging in to account.

Thanks BillyGoat, yes, phone line needed for TAB account access, but live odds and all day track info doesn't need a phone line...
Thats the part i have been wondering.

It appears to be in the data stream of PID 1050 on 12518H (with a 2.0 Mbps stream rate).
That stream is not encrypted so you could dump out the DVB stream details and look at the contents or even manipulate it whichever way you want.

    Thanks davmel, appreciate the investigation.
I don't have the equipment to do as you have suggested, but it now explains why it works on the provider box.
