Default Terrible colour on foxtel channels

Compared to my free to air channels some foxtel channels are so over saturated with colour that they are nearly unwatchable. Not wanting to adjust the colour after switching channels it frustrates me at the cost of foxtel and the quality being so poor.Do other people suffer this problem and are there cures?

no idea... but what about the cables? the reason I say this, is that my cables are old and a bit dodgy, and if they are moved, I get brighter/darker images.... (not the same as what you are reporting I know)...

edit: I also use a cheap "switch box" for FTA/Fox

How is your decoder connected to you television? Are your free to air channels digital or analogue. If they are digital are you using a set top box? If you are using a set top box for free to air how is that connected to the television?

I really don't think it is foxtel's problem. What kind of connection do you use? Scart or AV? And also, which FTA you compared with?
Shit! Bigpond told me that is ADSL2+!!!!

My TV has colour adjustment separate for each input..eg my sat box is connected to AV2...adjust colour for AV2...it doesn't affect any other input.

Is your FTA channels from the Foxtel Broadcast, or a Terrestrial local signal ?

is your FTA Analogue, SD Digital, or HD Digital ?

is your Foxtel, Cable or Satellite, SD, or HD ?

Perhaps it is a difference between the broadcast standards,

He still hasnt said what type of TV he is watching. It could be an old CRT with the tube 'Blooming' because of too high a signal input from the Fox box.

Sorry guys my daughter broke her neck the day after i posted so all hell broke loose for a couple of months.
My foxtel is connected to a plasma via anologue tv out. So when auto tuned it is say 13 anologue and then watch tv digitally.
So picture and colour vary heaps.

Sorry to hear about your daughter.... hope she's ok?

As for your Foxtel box connection... connect the box to your screen via HDMI or component.

Geez I hope she's ok. Best to use a receiver with HDMI connection for best picture. Even the SD channels look heaps better through HDMI with upscaling.

No hdmi with IQ but will try other connections. I rang foxtel about upgrading to IQ2. $100 just for the box upgrade. My main trouble is my box is 10 metres from my plasma.I have a cabinet set up near my projector and hidden away so that was the reason for the anologue feed. ( my daughter is healing slowly but getting very good on the playstation and thank god for foxtel)

If you have a big TV and can afford it Rowey upgrade to an IQ2. The foxtel HD channels leave the SD for dead. Trouble with SD is that they are compressed to the max (sometimes 11 channels on the one transponder). Foxtel HD channels are broadcast in Mpeg 4 and the 1080i stuff is really stunning.

Don't get me wrong, I am no pay TV apologist but at the moment, their HD stuff is the only good quality sat TV going around. Alternatively, wait for the new FTA sat service if you can get access to it.

    Hi,
best thing would be IQ2. Component signal is the best analog you can get, but at 10m distance you will need good quality cable which are probably more than $100 IQ2. With HDMA you can get the cheapest cable and the quality will remain.
    Cheers
