Default Is this type of decoder available?

I still have an analog decoder but I'm looking for a new HD one.
When it was installed the guy put in the function so I could watch the satellite channel in all other rooms with the antenna.
Since now we've got digital tvs and when we want to watch the satellite channel we have to switch to analog tv.
I'm in the search for a new decoder and was wondering if it could send the picture through the digital channel to get a better quality and clearer picture.

    any ideas, cheers

There are digital modulators available, which will do exactly what you want, but at present, they are very expensive, especially if you want to modulate HD resolution.

Eg: for HD (720p and above) a true HD DVB-T RF Modulator costs $4K+.

They provide fully-digital conversion from HDMI to DVB-T

There are cheaper DVB-T RF Modulators available for under $1K, but the highest resolution available is 576i converted from the devices AV analogue cables (S-Video being the highest available quality input) and convert to DVB-T for distribution.

    thanks mtv,

It's still quite pricey I'm only looking to convert it to SD picture digital tv, i thought it was possible for a box to convert the loop out to digital through the current modulator.

All a loop out on a satellite decoder does, is allow connection of another satellite decoder to the LNB.

Any satellite (or terrestrial) decoder which has a built-in RF modulator only outputs the RF as analogue, exactly as you have now.

If you want to modulate an output as RF DVB-T so it can be tuned on a digital TV tuner, there is no other option available than a DVB-T RF modulator.

There are other options available which require hard wiring, or using a wireless AV sender and receiver, but neither of those methods are tuned on a TV on a DVB-T tuner.

TO share the STB to other sets (providing they have an HDMI conection) You can use a HDMI splitter and HDMI over lan cable to the rooms will do it.

Which is a hardwired solution such as I mentioned.

It does not use the TV digital tuner in the TV, but it does provide a distribution solution, but requires additional cabling installation as opposed to RF distribution over the existing antenna coax.

Depending on the number of TV's, an HDMI splitter, data cabling, outlets and baluns, could be more costly than the SD RF DVB-T modulator.

    now I understand, thanks guys.

RF Modulator seems the best solution for my home, I guess I'll wait till the price drops a little. Seems bearable for the costs at the moment.

Other than that can you give me advice on what to look for finding a HD decoder <$250.

May I suggest the UltraPlus 900HD? It's more than just a satellite receiver.

Google for an wireless AV extender. Plenty of them available on eBay. They take the AV output of your Sat box & transmit to one or more receivers. The signal is still only composite video, but is a hell of a lot better than an analog modulator signal. They also provide IR remote signals, so you can change channels from the receiver end.
