| Senior Member | OMG, what a shame about these Strong boxes, i just bought one purely for the reason of doing a genuine install of Aurora.... Seems after all my asking on what would be a prefered STB for Aurora and everyone saying Strong, that i now couldn't be worse off........ Ah well, it will make a good blind scan unit ![]() Hope they sought it out |

![]() | well, the fact is strong only make one licenced irdeto box. 4658x etc. boxes are CONAX , not irdeto. yes, they work on irdeto most of the time, and if they don't then bad luck. spend some money and buy a box that works.... for aurora i would suggest an opentel or uec, they may be a bit basic, but they are licenced irdeto boxes. they work and will keep on working. |

err, i'm not the one whinging about my box/cam etc. not working...... i've never owned a humax and would never buy one... i currently have a dm7020, octagon 318, octagon 918 hd, opentel x-810, uec 660, uec 700, opentel ods 4000ci, bolt, strong 4820, strong 4658x and a dm500. 2.06b, 2.21, 2.26, freecam 2.20, t-rex, ultimate cams. etc.... if you want a box that works 100% of the time, use a sub box and card........... remember, all licenced irdeto boxes and cams can be 'upgraded' over the air... i had a genuine 5.3 aurora card in a smit cam, but it got 'upgraded' while i was watching fox with a genuine fox card in my octagon. now it gives e17 no matter what card or service..... should i be suing austar ? ![]() | |

![]() | if you can get an opentel for $75, buy it... they are very well made and have no overheating problems with any cards.. |

| Senior Member | Yes mate, there r hundreds for sale at $75 from freesat. Can i ask how you get your hands on a UEC provider box? Do you mean an old one that has been forgotten about or buying a new provider style box? I just had a look at the new range from UEC here in Oz, pretty impressive. Quite a few HD boxes too ![]() As i have never owned a UEC box, i was always under the impresion they were built for providers with their firmware loaded, making them not so attractive for other uses? |
