| Thaumaturgist | Question) Has there been a mailout to holders of legitimate IR1 cards ? I think it unlikely that holders of IR1-exclusive cards would be left in the dark. The AURORA information screen just says "Optus will upgrade the Aurora Platform on 22 and 23 July 08, leave your STB on etc., if upgrade fails ring blah blah" .... If AURORA was going to be exclusive IR2 then surely the information screen would mention that ! What I am guessing is that the spare 'placeholders' which have been apparent on the AURORA TPs for years are to be filled - my guess is ABC2, SBS News etc. Another case of suck it and see ! |

| Senior Member | ABC2, SBS News, HD per above suggestion/desires for C1 Aurora will not happen, certainly not soon. If you tune ABC-SBS on D1 instead you'll get that, and with 4-7day EPG too.

Why should they say. I work for a DTH provider and we upgraded stb's OTA for a change from Nagra 1 to Nagra3. We never mentioned which encryption system we were going to. All the pirates think it's 32 bit nagra 2 but we went to 64 bit N3 witha completely new OS not used anywhere else before. | |

| Thaumaturgist | Because these people have paid a 'once-off' fee for access to some programming. The change to exclusive IR2 will require a change of smartcard and these people should at least be told....don't you reckon ? Presently IR1 + IR2 are running simulcrypt. These people have been watching the same services for years and have never had contact with the provider at all ! Most of the systems were installed by various companies who even did the paper work for authorisation, there is no program guide - no contact at all. |

![]() | (Below is a reply I recieved dated 10/06/2008 relating to the changes per IRD2) This is the email address you need to use. This comes directly to our call centre. SRC@optus.com.au As yet there is no firm date as to when this is meant to go ahead. The process is estimated to take a year and there will be plenty of advertising once the process is under way. It is the older cards beginning with 000 or 200 that are going to be swapped out. | Senior Member | What they should do is try and make the servie a 4-7day EPG, at least. You get that on D1's ABC/SBS.

It probably has more to do with the old hardware no longer being supported by Mindport than them trying to beat the pirates. That would be my guess as to why there is a change coming.

You'll need 2 cards one for the east and one for the west. Still cheaper than if you could get an Aurora gamma. I wonder if you can share I2 Aurora cards? Leroy
