    Smile Optus D2 gone?

I lost Optus D2 a few days ago after heavy rain. Is there a problem with D2 or could I need a new lnb?
    Thanks.

Sounds like you have water in the connection to your lnb

    D2 is fine.

Yes, water ingress is one possibility (always use amalgamating tape to weatherproof external connections).

The dish may also have moved out of alignment.

I've also had instances of Ku-band LNB feed horns (on offset dishes) filling with water during rainy periods due to the plastic cover failing (UV causes degradation of the plastic).

This is actually fairly common, as I have replaced numerous LNB's for that reason.

LNB's can also fail from the same cause of perished covers, but with dust/dirt/insects/spiders, etc filling the feed horns.

Given this instance occurred after heavy rain, it's quite probable it's rain/moisture ingress, an alignment issue, or a combination.

Thanks to you all. I will get up on the roof at the weekend and check it out.
    Cheers.
