Do you think that the contractor will go back and fix that mess at his own expence. no chance. Absolute lack of pride in quality of workmanship. Just a guess, but you be pretty certain that every one of their jobs would look like that.

![]() | I feel sorry for you poor guys having to work on this crap. It is easier to do it right the first time! The coax farm at the top takes the cake, maybe he left his sidecutters in the roof?

![]() | Easy, They make a living by doing the job as quick as possible. The mob who sold it don't give a rat's. They've got another line (or two), that's all that matters to them. Years & years ago, I had the Service Manager of MSS in Melb complain to me about my install boys being too neat as it made it hard on his service boys to sort through cables that were all neat and cable tied in some of the nicest looking panels I had ever seen. |

and he was right as being neat is one thing but going overboard is another as most service techs will agree.

I have no problem with the formal complaint, but going out of your way to show the trainers these pics....... RHCP.

Have to agree, trying to trace a pair of wires that have been cable tied in with excessive amounts of ties is a right PITA. You can be neat without going overboard.

I agree, which is why most of the panels i've done recently all you need to do is cut 2 or 3 ties to find a cable and when you're finnished it only takes a minute to tidy it back up. One of my installers does the neatest work i've ever seen but makes it impossible to rewire things.

Same thing with SSG, 2 odd yrs ago we had been told NOT to be so neat and hurry the job up! We no longer do work for them, this was from the QLD managr, Large multi nationals are only interested in the bottom line.

I know a bloke who whinged about the amount of ties I used on a access job once, he said "I use 2 that way when I come back to work on it, I don't have to cut 50 off, " My reasoning is, when should you have to go back and how hard is it to keep it neat and do it right!

| Premium Member | These days it seems have to go back to jobs all the time because customers always change there minds and want extra doors or doors taken off. One job i'm doing right now we added an extra 4dc for extra doors they wanted, completely wired the panel and 4 doors 2 weeks later ripped 3 of the doors out again because the council said they couldn't have them. Now they want to change every single card reader to a different brand because the new tenants have them on their other site. Also, one of the reasons i left my last job is because i was told i have to spend less hours on jobs when i was already rushing to get jobs done and not to do anything extra for any customer regardless of how small or who the customer was without a purchase order. Anyway, getting a bit off topic now, sorry. |

| Senior Member | I agree, nothing worse then penny pinching managers, tell you the Technician.. to hurry it up so his job comes in under. Thank goodness we dont get that sort of harassment. the job takes as long as it takes, as long as its done right first time round ![]() No q's asked. |
