The light on the PCB indicates the charging current to the battery, it should be faintly flikering.
Hi
I have inherited an old solution 16 Alarm. There is a bright neon light lit on the circuit board.
Does anyone know what this means?
Thanks.

if its really bright then check teh condition of your battery. could be fooked
Thanks. I have no battery connected to the unit at the moment, so that must be the reason the light is so bright.
There is a blue terminal block marked 18v-22v AC which I have connected to a power supply. Would this be the only power input to the alarm Q
I don't see the typical regulators for 5v and 12v on this board. Should there be another power connector to the system Q
Thanks
Ah the unit has fired up.
12v outputs are rated @ 1amp max.
Thanks guys, the unit has died again (light is on, 12v has gone) after typing in the code to reset the time and date. Is this indicating the unit is stuffed or has it gone into shutdown mode Q
If shutdown, how long will I have to wait before it will activate again Q
Thanks for the advise
there is no shutdown "mode"
if there is ac input, it shouldnt shutdown, unless you have blown a fuse, then that output will always have no power untill fuse is replaced.
I'm at a loss to explain how that light was glowing if you have no battery installed. As stated it is in the charge cct for the battery. So if the battery is charging OR DISCHARGING this light will glow. If there is no cct to or from a battery then there is no glow. Normal condition is a faint flicker. Keep in mind that the o/ps (sirens etc) will not operate reliably without a battery.
