    Default Ademco Advantage

    Howdy All,

I've got a job to do here have to swap out a STU on an ademco advantage panel, now I'll be the first to admit that I dont know a lot about ademco's and before I call tech support tomorrow, apparently the unit is a advantage with a bolt on stu unit, apparently there is another bolt on unit that will turn it into a dialler, anyone know what the part number is? Or have any reading material on it, I dont know what panel type it is exactly, but i do know its a single area with 48 Zones...

    Anyone have any ideas?

I called ADI yesterday about an Ademco Advantage 5115 which was connected to an MCM ICON8STU panel through a board called a P.O.M8. As far as I know the 5115 does not communicate over securitel. Pretty dodgy was of getting the site on Securitel. They should have punted the advantage and programmed the Icon8Stu. What more can you expect from the Big C?

    What version is the advantage?

If its not a securitel only planel, might just have a uni-stu connected to it, rip it off and re program phone numbers and account code ect.

Um, the old ademco and the new ones also had the option of securitel via a dial capture board, it was basically store and forward, so, panel dials into the capture interface, then passes the information to the stu, then in return to the cms

I would say, if its an old advantage parts aren't available.
Why dont you use the stu and connect it up ti a GPRS device?
    We can do that
    1) keep old stu
    2) install GPRS device
    3) programme GPRS device as analogue stu
    done

Line kept panel kept = happy client !

Well, with the product we use.
you keep the stu in the panel, and connect the phone lead from the stu to the gprs device and it captures the alarm messages from the stu and sends them onto the cms

I'm not slamming C, just pointing out the stupidity in wiring 2 panels to essentially do one thing. What happened on this site was this. Panel is Advantage and cannot communicate to a serial STU. Instead of changing the resistors in the detectors and replacing the old board. They got an MCM connected it to the POM and duplicated the zones so it reports via securitel.

They would have done this free of charge to get the customer back to base. Hence the reason the job was done in the way it was. Probably took the installer half the time it would have to do a FULL and PROFESSIONAL upgrade.

It's all good, the customer is in good hands now. The site is now being upgraded to a challenger system with Permacon 1020 inferface A.

What panels are you performing this method on? MCM stu panels?
