I would think Bocch/EDM would definitely be there along with probably NX/Reliance and either C&K or Paradox.
What make are the top 3 most common residential control panels in use in Australia today ? DSC, Ademco, FAI(LOL)....
Also, has the Ademco Vista 21ip and DSC Alexor arrived down under yet ?
Look Here -> |
I would think Bocch/EDM would definitely be there along with probably NX/Reliance and either C&K or Paradox.
I see a lot of C&K, DSC and Bosch/EDM. Then I'd say NX and MCM.
Nx , Solution , New Ness
nx, ademco, and ness.
nx, solution, paradox
Bosch, NX/Reliance, Ademco/Honeywell
I dont know why NX is making this list, its old and i hate using it.
I say The latest series of Paradox is on top...little known but man its impressive, then id say Bosch (although it is played out now) and then MCM maybe...but i try not to touch em.
I cant beleive you even added Ademco to this..lol

Cause every three wire jockey is throwing them into homes they work on.
The question wasn't about which panel you think is best, the question was what are the top 3 common panels.
The reason NX's Ademco's DSC's and C&K's are common in the residential market is purely due to the fact a lot of the multinationals were putting them in. Buying power from these companies allowed them to drop the price well below any trade account customer could receive.
Give you an example, I went in to one of the above mentioned to buy a wireless kit, the kit was quoted at just over $500. Cost for multi was half that.

Thanks guys. Excuse my ignorance, but who is the company that make the NX - or is that the name of the company ?
Have any of you guys seen the new Solution16i from Bosch?
Apparently now available with optional Voice and IP modules.
Locally made unlike most others mentioned and certainly doesnt look played out as Homer says. Might be worth a look for residentials.
Bosch support has declined big time in last year or so..im not the only one saying it..many installers are moving away from them, why pay as intelli said 500 bucks for a wireless kit, can get a paradox with inbuilt RF, 2 way fobs for less! Bosch sold on their name for so long, dont get me wrong, it is a good panel but lacks so much.
I remember asking about getting a feature added that gave the fobs 2 way coms for old people or people who dont want a siren chirp..bosch laughed...im not kidding they laughed and said who would want that! The arrogance of Bosch really gets on my nerves, they think people will buy what Bosch tell them to buy.
I now use Paradox with the big selling feature of 2 way Fobs, wireless codepad and wireles siren...people love them!
Re the 16i, have you seen the price of the IP module! its crazy, near $300 bucks and u can only use it on a 16i...USELESS!
The Paradox magellan has a $100 IP module, onboard wireless, rf KP and siren and their support is great from the new dist CSD
My 2.2 cents worth.

Its called Networx, panels are nx-4 nx8 ect, Sold in Australia by DAS (direct alarm supplies) made by DAS or HILLS
New versions are called Reliance not NX or Networx
As for first post, NX, Bosch 8XX's or old EDMs, and old ademco/honeywell or newer like Vista 12s ect, then i would say C+Ks then cheap my pet hat panels like MCM, Ness, Crow
I dont find them that bad, sure most (all) of the time you have to leave a message and taked a bit to get back, can be anying when on site needing to leave, but DAS does the same!
Have you tired Honeywell? now thats gone BAD! last month mooved over to india to an indian call centre, and frm few ppl and my experence when calling them, VERY UN USEFULL! they were learning as they read there sheets. didnt understand basic alarm or programming
NX are part of the GE conglomerate aren't they?
They were called CADDX before they got took over.
The same manufacturer who made the old DL series from DAS.
Anyway, seems to me the most popular panel would be whichever has the cheapest "kit" price on the purchase day.

Thanks again guys
I was interested to know which were most popular so that I could work out what options there are available for residential clients upgrading to IP. The Bosch has already been poo-pood, I know about DSC, Ademco and Networx, so what about C&K - do they provide an IP module ?
Interesting. Do you know what is required at the CMS end to receive signals over IP ?
Will do. Neil mentioned he had written a receiver interface for one of the panel manufacturers but I don't think it was C&K.
Anyway, I used to installl C&K panels years ago in the UK and there was a company called C&K. I just did a Google search to find their web site and found nothing. What country is the company from and did they get swallowed up ?
For all you technical technicians I have worked with the all so called popular panels and yes most complaints are due to the lack of inproper installations and reading manuals to allow the end user programming requirements.
Basically the tech supports are all good but most are tied up with so called techs that can not install or program the systems and use the tech help line to learn how they have to get these sytems working as to me they are to lazy to read the manuals,
Here is something interesting and that is when I started installing alarm panels I used Direct Alarm Supplies since 1984 starting with the Micro panels as they had remote code pads, then the DL panels, NX Panels and finally the Reliance Panels. Since I started dealing with Direct Alarm supplies I had one faulty DL250 panel and yes 2 NX Panels and 1 NX Codepad not bad considering I have installed for myself and other companies over 3,000 systems and still have quite a few DL working after all these years.
Yet I have continually seen faulty panels returned to suppliers that were mainly faulty due to poor installation proceedures.
Alarm panels today seem to be like being married when you can not figure it out devorce from it and try another one but sooner or later you run out and then give the game away because you can no longer afford to maintain your mistakes.
So keep off the tech support lines as there will a day I may need them because if I loose my glasses I can not read instructions and then dementure is also setting in but I will continue on with the help of my walking frame.
