Hi watchdog,
Paradox is my weapon of choice. I have documentation on all of their products. PM me if you'd like a copy.
Would anyone have a paradox (any current model) programming sheets in a pdf. I have decided to have a closer look at them to see if I might be inclined to use them. Anyone have opinions on them?

Hi watchdog,

I love the Magellan;s
If their mainstream panels are anything like them, go for it.
They do take a bit of getting used to "programming wise"
but yeah very reliable
lots of wireless options too
I have a 5050 installed with the IP module and receive alarm/status notifications dirct to my Blackberry.
I am also able to log into the panel directly from ANY broadband wired and wireless connection using the Winload software that can show battery and service status LIVE!.
I am finding it a great panel at present.
Just my 2 cents worth.
Regards,
Shane
It's not to bad, the Magellan wireless stuff is excellent. We use the Evo at bit, recently with access control and end user software (Ne-ware). Definitely has a lot of options and support is not to bad through CSD, here in SA anyway. Biggest pain is the phone lead they need to implement an RJ socket on the board with a plug in lead.
go onto Paradox website and apply for a log on, then you can get any manual you want!

Hi Security was given a Paradox Spectra 1728 with a 1689 Keypad
Normally i do DAS NX , Ness , EDM stuff but have done quite a bit of programming on Esprit 738
In location 136 Dialler options no 3 it has the option all codes automatic
now when i wanted to program a 738 for open/Close you would programm all contact ID and it wouild send all system alarms zones alarms as well as any users , but if i didnt want to send open / close and only send system & zones alarms and disarms we had to program ther individual locations is this the same with the 1728
the second question it came with an ZX8 expander which connects to the panel via + & - and comms connection is there a limit on current draw on the expander or do you just keep it under the total limit of PWR out output 1.1A as othe expanders have current limits for pwr from expanders
The other question the download software for this panel do you use it and is it finiky or stable
Am wanting to put the Panel in a friends house but may want to do remote programming
regards
tastech
Yup. Should be sections 160 to 213. Appendix A & B list of all of the contact ID mapping. If you'd like a copy let me know.is this the same with the 1728
The ZX8 Expander draws around 30mA. You'll need to put that in to your overall power budget from the panel. 700mA is safe but you can push it to 1.1A
WinLoad is very stable. It will operate on all of the common windows platforms. Paradox regularly bring out updates for this software package.
Remote programming? Winload is the answer. There are some pretty cool features built in to it.
Hope this helps
im not to fussed on them personally. There not a bad panel, i guess its just lack of knowledge of them on my behalf that makes me not like them.
Id rather use a solution 16+ or 64

Thanks for your comments security ill see if its not installer locked out as was giving to me by another tech and its still in good nick so am thinking of installing in one of my freinds residence as he has passed away and they have trouble with prowlers as they live away remote program sounds good
In all fairness i have a bit of respect for the 738 of which i had to program about 30 on cutovers they are not my panel of choice but once you understood programming etc
they had some neat options and function , like the C&K Sierra one of the most under utilised panels ever brought out , but given an LCD keypad and programmings a breeze
Security do you have an instal manual re 1689 keypad v2.0 re using on board zones Ive stacks of downloaded esprit but nothing on the 1689

Glad I could help mate.
Don't worry if there is an installer lockout. If you PM me I'll show you a few tricks on how to default the panel.
I have to agree with you there on the 236 etc... I've still got old programmers for the DL series and the C&K series panels. I should probably put them up for sale.
I have a quick guide/ user guide for the 1689 keypad. If you want any documentation just send me a PM. I'll setup a link.
I have been unable to find anywhere how to default a C&K Sierra Panel - Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. I am a regional manager of a Security Company and my new Technician has not come across this type of panel so as we can reprogram for a new client.
Really good panel both the MG range and the EVO range.
we used to use the NX's as a staple but have moved to the MG for the wireless quality in versatility of products and reliability.
WinLoad is essential and works well.
NEWare will only do ONE version of software to ONE panel serial - so you cant install mulitple EVOs and get them to work to a central P.C.
I really like these panels; the app if the residential clients choose to use is brilliant and the IP modules are all easy to configure.
Its different to anything else in terms of programming but once you have the terminology nutted its swell.
The worst part about dealing with a Paradox system is having to deal with CSD
I tried the sp panel because of the ip module, not happy with panels at all.
The programming is all over the place and not very customer freindly.
As for the 1 evo panel i fitted, it has to be the worst panel i have ever worked on.
I also think 1 of the biggest issues with the paradox range is the support or lake of it.
I will stick with Bosch.
